It's the heaviest pipe I have. It does clench well due to design but you are still holding a lot.
I reserve it for long smokes I know won't get interrupted.
I really like mine. I had some buyers remorse because I wish I had bought a silver cap model, then I saw one in person and it was much bigger. That could have just been that particular pipe but it made me glad of the purchase I had made.

Just grabbed this Peterson 106 in the barley/silver spigot. Breaking her in now with some Black Mallory. So good!
I grabbed a heritage pub estate from SPC last year and despite being a straight billiard guy I enjoy it. The weight and hang isn't an issue at all and is often a better clencher than some of my straights that are 2/3rds it's weight.
That said I dislike the p-lip and it keeps me from smoking it on a regular basis.

I am not a 'filter type of guy,' but I recently found out about the Nording Keystones and am a convert. My initial trial was a Peterson 221 which has a gurgle to it. Cured it and made it quite enjoyable!
Wish I could locate a pub with silver cap have been on the search for 2 years, do you know where it came from?

I know, old thread. But I've just about completely switched to full bent pipes. It doesn't matter how big or heavy it is when it hangs like that.

What’s this “Peterson” I keep reading about, OMG, the Italians have corrupted me after one pipe.
Lovely pipe. Have often been tempted by Italian pipes while window shopping online. But, except for a few Savinellis and a few obscure brands and no names, own very few Italians.
I've never been a fan of the Peterson system pipe, but love the P-lip. I must have just not had the right pipe. I picked up and restored this 1950's Premiere Selection 02 and it smokes amazingly. Dry, one match bowls. It's become one of my favorite pipes. It hangs perfectly, despite the 64 oz weight (about 10-15 over my preference)
