We always seem to plan a vacation during the first round. I watched the first two periods of the Caps/Canadians at a bar/restaurant in Clearwater FL (Tamp Bay nearby, plays tomorrow night)

Caps had them 2-0, now in OT. Terrible 3rd period play.
We're missing a few key D, but still should beat this team.

Is hockey the one where really tall guys kick an oval ball around a square set of "bases" and the hit it with their head into a catcher-net-thing?

I think I tried to watch that game once, but found it too confusing...

Golf, on the other hand, makes perfect sense. Try to shoot down flying birds with a little white ball and get drunk in the clubhouse whether you hit any or not.

Man, I LOVE sports!

Hockey has a lot going for it - it's the fastest paced pro sport (probably Basketball is close). It's physical.
To win the Stanley Cup the team must win 16 playoff games. It is the most brutal championship to win.

Not for any political reasons but I would like to see a Canadian team win this year. I've been a Habs fan since I was a kid but I'd be happy with the Leafs or Jets.

I'm hoping for a better effort tonight for my Avs. Unbelievable loss in OT to the Stars the other night. I think I could have got on a plane, flown to Dallas, made my way to the arena and got on the ice to secure that puck before the Avs were going to get to it. That puck just sat there in front of the net forever, while the Avs just watched the Stars put it past Blackwood. Such a terrible loss.

Last year's Kings would've cracked under the pressure of seeing their 3-0 lead cut to 3-2. I'm glad they persevered instead. Much improved.

I just hope Darnell Nurse can resist the mounting urge to concuss the entire Kings lineup. And the coaches. And the trainers. And the radio & TV announcers. And the organist. And the parking attendants. And the entire animal population of planet earth. And any extraterrestrials that are unfortunate enough to find themselves a hockey fan. 😵

Darnell Nurse is washed. Go Kings!

Caps are up 2-0 but struggling in every game. We're missing two players (Protas & Fehrevary). Protas might be back, he's a 30 goal scorer. We might get thru Round 1, but I don't believe we can beat the Canes.

The Avs looked great last night, and could have swept the series if not for two terrible OT losses. But I knew this series would be tough, so sitting at 2-2, we're still in good shape.
Barkeep! I'll take three more of these, they're delicious!

💙🎶

Nice win for the Blues. Series is 2-2, bet you weren't expecting that but you got a series!

Man, the Capitals didn't show up in Montreal Friday night. Logan Thompson, star goalie was helped off the ice. A brawl that went into the bench. Not sure who is in goal tonight, but getting past the Habs doesn't seem likely now.

Rough deal getting taken out by your own teammate. Hopefully he'll be good to go for tonight.
I'm all for a good hockey fight, but that's gotta stay on the ice. Taking your guy over the wall, and continuing to fight on the bench is dangerous. I see multiple fines got handed out by the NHL.

Well that was certainly an embarrassing display. Once I saw how they were choosing to play in the 3rd period, I knew they'd let the Oilers back in the game, and therefore the series. That was like a 20 minute long Edmonton power play. Pathetic! Not playing to win...playing not to lose. That kind of laziness won't cut it in the playoffs.

They don't deserve to win, but neither do the Oilers. I'm giving serious consideration to becoming a Thrashers fan now...

I really thought Kuemper might pull this one out for the Kings. But you're right, they were playing not to lose, and that almost never works in the playoffs.

The Capitals shows up last night. Tom Wilson's massive hit on D-man Carrier in the 3rd, allowed an easy goal (Caulfield was left on defense). The Habs poked the Wilson beast the other night, paid the price.
