Personally, I'd like to see more ads. it means that Kevin is making money at this venture, and the servers are being cared for.

Years back, when I worked at a large newspaper, some of the photographers would complain bitterly about the multi-page real estate, department store and car ads, because they often broke up stories and shifted photo layouts deep inside the paper to what was called "the jump". I'd retort that those ads funded our paychecks, but all they cared about was their precious pictures, the ones that would have puppy shit on them the next day. Well. when those ads stopped, 80% of the photographers lost their jobs. How do those pictures look now, pal?

Oh I’m not trying to appear that I’m complaining about having ads, they are necessary to keep the site up and running and I’ve visited and bought from some of the vendors who do buy ad space here. My issue was this pop up video was coming up a lot more frequently yesterday and today, to the point of being overly obnoxious, and I was wondering if it was just me or if others had noticed it.

Something has changed and I’m not sure what but I did log out and logged back in to this account, while also clearing out the mobile browser cache and it seems to have resolved the issue I was having.

I think that you are accidentally hitting the ads as you scroll, making the image "pop up" as an isolated image. This is not supposed to be an actual pop up ad, IMO. This happens to me on a game I play sometimes on my phone.
I have seen an increase in accidental clicking on ads on this site lately myself.

I spent 4 years in help desk and know my phones. I get that ad on my IOS Firefox. It is not a true pop up but blocks the site until you close it. It used to happen once every ten minutes or so and now it happens up to once a minute. I am not accidentally clicking anything.

This site is 16 years old and there have never been pop-up ads. The ad cited is an animated banner ad that is an MP4 file - an actual video format to create the animation.

This is probably the only website in the world where all of the advertisements are the same topic as the content and community discussions - therefore exactly the types of things you are looking for.

You're welcome.
