Similar to Reddit's "Recommend Me A Book," only grammatically correct!

I just tried C&D's Night Train and am highly infatuated, but not totally in love. I like my perique on the plum end rather than the spice end of the spectrum. What blend is like NT, but with more sweetness/fruit and less spice?

Thanks, I'll check that out! I would not have picked that one based on the "cigar-based" description, but the reviews sound pretty good!

I haven't had Night Train but am aware that it's a Va/Per/Bur. I usually avoid burley, but a couple Va/Per/Burs that I've tried include Hal O' the Wynd and Windjammer. Neither are my preference due to the burley component, but they're much-loved by many and may be up your alley?

A couple others that people rave about (but that I have not tried) include Haddo's Delight and Doblone d'Oro.

You might check reviews on those four and see if any of them sound like what you're looking for?

After looking through my cellar, I actually planned to open a tin of Windjammer next! I love Haddo's Delight, but I'm looking for something "meatier," if that makes sense. Also love HOTW! I may also crack open a tin of Doblone d'Oro now, too... thanks!

GLP Barbary Coast. It’s burley-forward, but the perique is more plummy than spicy (IMO), and there’s a fair bit of it. The Virginia is just a condiment. The brandy topping adds a fair bit of sweetness. It’s not Nic bomb, but I don’t think anyone would describe it as mild.

I'm going to suggest something that's not a VaPer, so if that doesn't interest you just ignore this post.
Try Peterson Royal Yacht.
It's a straight Virginia, but has a plum topping that might satisfy your itch. It's flavored, but not over the top so as to be considered an aromatic.
Great flavor.
I have several tins of that stored away, I'll break one out! Thanks!

Love this stuff, too. Thank you.

Ive got a tin of Night Train and it's okay but it's just too spicy for me. I'm personally in love with Haunted Bookshop. You might try Old Joe Krantz or Windjammer is pretty good. Haddos Delight is an excellent blend but only once it's breathed for a few weeks/months, it turns into something amazing.

I’m currently infatuated with Rattray’s Marlin Flake. Dark virginia, black cavendish, perique, a little sugar and a very light liquorice topping. Smells like fruit cake in the tin. Not an obvious VaPer - very much a “hint” of perique, but delicious. At the moment it’s everything I want in a Virginia-based flake.

On the other end of the spectrum is GLP’s Fillmore. Stronger, richer, and, to my tastes, ‘plummy’. With much more perique and no casing.

Peterson Deluxe Navy Rolls.
Nice and bready with an everpresent addition of perique.

On the heavier (not spicer) end HU Directors Cut

I have all of these and enjoy them all!
