Now smoking year 2014 Astley’s No. 55 in a 1915-1920 straight smooth dark brown BBB Own Make 150 apple with a silver band and a tapered black vulcanite stem.

Right now, smoking some Mac Baren's Golden Extra in a mystery pipe. On this smoke, I noticed that the outer wall of the bowl is becoming dark and blackened. I looked into the bowl and it looks like it is burning through to the outside. The end of this no-namer could be soon!

I think it’s doing the opposite! The whole thing started out like the shank—it seems like the bowl is heating up and the yellowish wax is thinning out, restoring the visibility of the white Meerschaum.
Going to have Wilke Pipe Tobacco Peanut Butter and Chocolate in a Missouri Meerschaum/Old Dominion Laughing King Cob.
Actually, kind of reverse of that. This Meer was heavily waxed. The wax on the bowl melted away in the first two or three bowls and left the bowl white. The wax on the shank has helped some but appears more yellow than it really is because the bowl whitened so much. Kind of strange. I'm just going to keep doing it and see where it goes.

A third of the way through this bowl of Wilke No. 24 in a smooth straight brown 1949 Yello-Bole Century Model Lovat with a nickel band accent on the black vulcanite saddle stem.
Interesting! Yeah I'd be interested to see what happens too!
