Meerschaum Pipe Stemwork

Sellers often picture meerschaum pipes against a black background, which makes figuring out how well cut a stem is a mite tricky.

What's your experience, are there any recommendations for makers based on stemwork/mouthfeel?

I love the price of the Meerschaums I bought, but the stemwork is something to be desired. Not terrible, but could be much better. Again, price is worth it. But have thought about replacements as well. So I'm listening.

I love the stems on both of my Altinays, but can't say the same with either IMP I bought and went ahead and did a replacement on one. It's such a great pipe, it deserved a better stem.

+1 ... I especially like their stem work...generally superior in my experience to other meers I've had.
