Aloha,

I’ve recently been smoking and thoroughly enjoying Peterson’s Deluxe Navy Rolls. The only problem is when I smoke this blend, no matter how quick or slow my pipes heat up really quick. This causes me to have to put down the pipe every few minutes. My pipe ends up resting longer than the time I’m actually smoking for the duration of the bowl. The bizarre thing is that the smoke is still extremely cool when the pipe is hot. I’ve never had this problem with other VaPers and the countless burley blends I smoke. Is this normal for this style blend?

How are preparing the coins? Rubbing out? Rolling and stuffing? DNR is pretty fine ribbon when rubbed out. Perhaps you need to pack it a little firmer to keep it from burning too quickly.
I usually roll them up and stuff or kind of fold them and stuff. It seems to make the pipe even hotter and have less flavor when I’ve rubbed them out.

Also, try a different pipe, if you haven't already.

I have (had) one or two pipes that just get hot, no matter what.

Rub out just a little bit to lay atop the stuffed portion for a smoother start.

I do have one pipe that gets hot no matter matter what, but the rest of my pipes get hot with this blend regardless.

I've not smoked that blend but as mentioned, moisture is usually the culprit.
Drying should solve the problem.
A few members have mentioned how they pack Flakes/Rolls the night before to allow it to dry in the bowl overnight to smoke the next day.

When packing a Flake or Roll, I sprinkle some extra dry 'kindling' on top. That really helps to get a bowl lit without the need for using excessive flame.

^^ This works for me.

Haha! Unfortunately, my gums don’t like me clenching.
"Unfortunately"? Nah, that's a good thing.

It's a positive for me that I don't like to clench a pipe because it means that I need two hands to smoke which reduces my smoking.
If I clenched I'd probably have a pipe stuck in my mouth my entire waking hours

Good luck to those that do but I switched to a pipe from cigs to beat the addiction.
Not that I think that pipe tobacco is anywhere near as addictive as cigarettes [which have 300+ added chemicals, some of which I'm convinced are way more addictive than the nicotine] but it's now nice to be able to abstain for many hours and not experience any cravings. puffy

Haha! That is very true, I’d probably be smoking far more often if I could hold a pipe in my mouth ?
