Hearth & Home Virginia Spice - Pipe Tobacco Reviews

Note: I would like to say that I have seen two descriptions on this blend. I have a copy of the old description from 2005 that says that this blend contains cigar leaf. The current description does not say this. I do see pieces of tobacco in this blend that look like cigar leaf, so I assume that it is still used in this blend and have included it in the ‘Tobaccos’ part of the information break down.

The pouch aroma of this blend is sweet, slightly spicy, tangy, and with a hint of, what I would call, plum. I love the way that this blend smells. I love when a Virginia or a Virginia/Perique blend has that tanginess that tingles my nose and makes my mouth water when I smell it. The moisture content of this blend is perfect for smoking immediately with no drying time needed.

I loaded up my pipe using the two step method and proceeded to the charring light. The charring light presented a nice tobacco taste with light hints of sweetness and spice. I also picked up on a little pepper in my nose. I can already tell that this is a very good blend and I settled in for a nice relaxing smoke. Read the rest of this entry »

Hearth & Home Egg Nog - Pipe Tobacco Reviews

Tis’ the season for some Eggnog!

The tin aroma of this blend is excellent and instantly invokes memories of the Holiday Season. I am picking up on the rum, cinnamon, and nutmeg aromas, but I am not picking up on any of the vanilla. That doesn’t mean that it isn’t there though. The tin aroma of this blend is very complex and there is a lot going on, so it is probably hiding in there somewhere. It does not smell anything like actual Eggnog, it is more of just the Christmas and Holiday spices that most people are accustomed to smelling around the Holidays. So, just in case you were worried about smoking “actual” Eggnog in your pipe, don’t be (although I wouldn’t mind doing that during the Holiday Season, lol). Scotty’s Bulk Blends Milk & Honey - Pipe Tobacco Reviews

Scotty’s Bulk Blends are another brand of house blends from Pipesandcigars.com. This blend is called Milk & Honey and is only available in bulk. I am not picking up on any discernable aromas from the pouch. It is just a sweet smelling Cavendish blend. The moisture level is just about perfect for smoking. However, a little drying time wouldn’t hurt. I filled the pipe using my two step packing method and proceeded to the charring light.

On the charring light I picked up on a very light hint of vanilla and then there was nothing else really there. There was no vanilla in the aroma, just a hint in the flavor. I settled in for the smoke hoping that this blend would get better tasting as I smoked. Read the rest of this entry »

Hearth & Home LJ Heart Virginia - Pipe Tobacco Reviews

The pouch aroma has that lovely sweet and tart smell that accompanies a lot of VA/PER blends. I love this smell. The moisture content is perfect for smoking without any drying time. The tobacco is a little chunky and I rubbed it out a little.

I used a two step packing method to load the bowl and proceeded with the charring light. I was greeted by a very nice sweet tobacco taste. I finished lighting the bowl and settled in for the smoke. There is a pure tobacco taste with a natural sweetness. At the mid-bowl point, this seems more of a VA blend to me than a VA/PER blend.

Hearth & Home Anniversary Kake - Pipe Tobacco Reviews

Anniversary Kake is an attractive looking mixture that ranges from very light brown pieces all the way to very dark brown pieces of tobacco. The moisture content when it arrived felt a little on the moist side, but it was definitely smoke-able upon receiving it. I do suggest a little drying time though to help out with an easier burn with fewer re-lights. Read the rest of this entry »
