The tin aroma of this blend is a strong, sweet and smoky tobacco smell with a light hint of spice to it. It smells very good. The moisture content is good for smoking right out of the tin, but some drying time would not hurt. I loaded up the pipe and proceeded to the charring light.

*Editors Note/Correction:
I have to make a correction to this review. After further investigation, I have found out from Orlik that this blend does contain Latakia. Here is a list of the tobaccos that are in this blend and where they come from:
•Virginia tobaccos from Africa and South America
•Oriental tobaccos from Greece and Turkey
•Latakia from Cyprus
A part of the Virginia tobacco is steamed in order to get the smooth taste.
Because the recipes of the Dunhill Pipe Tobacco Blends are kept secret, I could not find out how much Latakia that they put in this blend. I presume that it is not very much because the Latakia is not very strong like I encounter in most every other Latakia/English type blend.
However, with this new information taken into account; I still stand by my review of this blend, with the obvious exception that it does contain Latakia. It does not change the fact of what I thought about the flavor and aroma of this blend. It is still a really good blend.

—————
The tin aroma of this blend is a nice tobacco smell that is a little earthy with some sweetness to it. I am also picking up on hints of smokiness with some spice. On the first smell, it kind of smells like there is Latakia in it from the smokiness. But upon further and deeper smelling, I am no longer really picking up on Latakia. The smokiness faded quite a bit and was replaced by a more predominate aroma of tobacco. I am not sure if this blend contains any Latakia in it or not, but I do not think that there is. I would guess that the reason for the first smell of it is that Latakia is made from Oriental tobaccos and I was picking up on the base aroma of it.

Current Production Tin - Current Artwork

My Tin - Original Artwork
The tin that I am reviewing has over 5 years of age on it. The tin has the old artwork on it. The blend is the same, just the artwork was changed. The tin aroma is a very nice smoky and sweet smell with a little bit of a tang in the nose. The moisture level is a little on the wet side and some drying time wouldn’t hurt. I loaded up my pipe using the Three Step Method and proceeded to the charring light.
On the charring light, I was greeted by a nice smoky flavor with a baseline of sweetness. It tasted very nice. Aroma wise, there was a nice smoky smell of the Latakia with some sweetness from the Virginia and Orientals. I finished lighting the pipe and settled in for the smoke.

The pouch aroma of this blend smells really good. I am picking up on hints of vanilla, chocolate, raisin, a little bit of fruitiness, and maybe a very light hint of rum. This seems to me to be a mixture of the Regular Blend and the Gold Blend. The moisture content of this blend is on the wet side and it is a little sticky. Some drying time would be recommended. I loaded up my pipe and proceeded to the charring light.

The pouch aroma of this blend smells very nice. I am picking up on mostly Vanilla with hints of Chocolate. Moisture content is on the wet side and a little sticky. Some drying time would be recommended. I did not let it dry and just loaded up my pipe and proceeded to the charring light. Upon the charring light, I smelled the vanilla right away. It smelled great and left a very pleasant, lingering room note. The flavor of vanilla was also there and it tasted very nice. I finished lighting the pipe and settled in for the smoke.

The pouch aroma is nice and rich smelling. I pick up on the aroma of raisins, chocolate, and maybe a light hint of coffee. I had someone else smell it and they said that it smelled mainly of raisins with a hint of rum. Either way, it smells really good. Moisture content is on the wet side and a little sticky. Some drying time would be recommended. I did not let it dry and just loaded up my pipe and proceeded to the charring light.

The tin aroma of this blend is a nice sweet and smoky smell. You can tell that there is Latakia in the blend from the smoky aroma, but it is not an overpowering aroma of Latakia. The moisture content is perfect for smoking right away with no drying time needed. I loaded up my pipe and proceeded to the charring light.

The tin aroma of this blend is a nice tobacco smell with a pretty tart and tangy aroma of, what I can only describe as, plums. The tart and tangy plum aroma is a smell that I get with a lot of blends that contain dark fired Kentucky tobacco. The moisture content is perfect for smoking right away. I loaded up my pipe and proceeded to the charring light.

[Note: This tobacco has been opened for over a year. I do not recall the original tin aroma. I am just describing what I smell now. It could also explain the lack of rum flavor and aroma for me in this review.]
The tin aroma of this blend is of a grassy/hay type smell with some tanginess and a slight sweetness. The moisture content is perfect for smoking right away with no drying time needed. I rubbed out a couple of the flakes and loaded my pipe and proceeded to the charring light.

The pouch aroma of this blend is a nice sweet and smoky aroma with a very light tang. The moisture content is on the dry side, but I prefer my tobacco that way and consider it perfect for smoking right away. The cut of this blend is large and chunky. Because the blend is so large and chunky, and it is on the dry side, I suggest some extra care and time when loading the bowl. This blend doesn’t pack as easily as a lot of other blends. I loaded my pipe and proceeded to the charring light.
