When I opened the tin and the aroma hit me, I heard a loud rumbling and then a crash. This guy had just busted through my wall!

The tin aroma smelled exactly like cherry Kool-Aid powder. The name Cherry Bomb is right as far as the tin aroma goes. It was a very strong cherry smell and although the tin description says there is vanilla, I smelled no vanilla at all. It was pure cherry. I detected no medicinal smell to the aroma that seems to accompany a lot of cherry flavored blends. It smelled quite good. Read the rest of this entry »

Now that autumn is here and the nights have become quite a bit cooler, I have been having the urge to smoke some of my heavier aromatic blends. I figured what better blend to smoke first than Autumn Evening by Cornell & Diehl.
The tin aroma of this blend is a very strong, sweet, maple syrup aroma. The moisture content is a bit on the wet side and I would recommend some drying time before smoking. I used a two step packing method and proceeded to the charring light. On the charring light I was greeted by a nice maple syrup type aroma and a light maple taste. I was a little worried because the tin aroma was so strong and I thought that the flavor would be as well, but so far the taste is not that strong. I settled in for the smoke. I see why they called this blend Mississippi Mud. The blend is almost completely black in color and kind of looks like used coffee grounds when it was in the pouch. The pouch aroma is a nice, sweet and smoky Latakia with a very light hint of pepper/spice from the Perique in the background. The moisture level was a tad on the wet side and some drying time would probably be good for it. I did not dry it and opted to smoke it as it was. Read the rest of this entry »

When I opened this tin I was greeted by a strong yet nice sweet aroma of Amaretto. I also picked up some slight hints of chocolate, caramel, and vanilla. The moisture level was a little on the moist side, as it is with most aromatics. And just like with most aromatics, I would suggest some drying time for the tobacco. Read the rest of this entry »
