Let me start by saying that Kevin and I had a great time at the show. We both thank Linwood Hines, Craig Norris, and the rest of the members of the C.O.R.P.S for putting on a great show. In addition to C.O.R.P.S, we would like to thank all of the vendors, exhibitors, and every one who attended the show for making every one else in attendance feel welcome.
We have collected so much information, interviews, photos, videos, etc. that it was hard for us to find a starting point for the coverage of the show. But we finally decided on starting our coverage of the show with a report on some of the new tobaccos that were released by Cornell & Diehl. C&D released three new C&D blends at the show and they also had a new GLPease blend that was released at the show.
First I will tell you what the new blends are including a description of each blend. After the blends and descriptions there is a video interview with Chris Tarler. Chris Tarler is the son of Craig and Patty Tarler. Chris also talked a little bit about one of their newer blends, Good Morning. Good Morning was released at the 2009 Chicago Pipe Show. Now on to the blends!
New Cornell & Diehl Blends
C&D Good Morning - A Tarler/Runowski blend perfect for getting your day started or any other time of day or night. Reminiscent of a classic Dunhill blend devoted to morning puffing. Our Chicago Show Blend for 2009.

C&D Burley Flake #1 – A blend of dark Burley and red Virginia with just a splash of Perique.
C&D Burley Flake #2 – A blend of Dark and White Burleys with red Virginia for a touch of sweetness.
C&D Burley Flake #3 – A blend of quality Burleys with a bit of Virginia for natural sweetness and a dash of Perique for interest.

New GLPease Blend
GLPease Chelsea Morning – Greg introduces his new “Old London Series” with Chelsea Morning. Comprised of a variety sweet red and yellow Virginias, fragrant Orientals, a measure of rich Cyprian Latakia, and a pinch of L.A. Poche’s brilliant Acadian Perique. The leaf is blended in layers and briefly pressed to integrate the flavours before being sliced and tumbled into short ribbons. The final form is between a broken flake and a ribbon cut tobacco. It’s easy to pack, easy to smoke, and is a great blend with which to start the day with the morning cup. The flavours are lively and engaging, with a subtle fruitiness and gentle smokiness that wakes up the palate.

Now on to the interview with Chris Tarler.

That was very cool. This video gives you a very small taste of what we experienced at the Richmond show. There were so many tobaccos and pipes and people to talk to about them.
Cornell & Diehl always comes out with good stuff. They keep having hit after hit.

I received Communications from both Kevin & Bob (Admin & Python)
About how busy they were and the hard work they put into covering the last two Shows
Now the coverage was excellent.
Thankfully there was an absence of Crypts, Tombs, and Cemeteries, in what I can only think was Kevin searching for Estate Pipes when he was in New Orleans.
But I am stuck here in the hot humid Caribbean, and when I mean hot and humid, well ask any Vietnam Vets about Jungle Crotch Rot.
The mould here grows so fast on my camera lenses, tobacco and even inside pipes, thats its more exciting to watch on a weekend than Tiger Woods play at the PGA.
So I appreciate what a hard a time these two had, it being subjected to:
Seeing 1,000’s of Pipes. With discounted prices or at least sans the retailer markup
Talking to Tobacco Blenders and probably getting samples
Nice A/C Exhibits, probably with the normal CB (Corporate Bimbo) babes that are the usual decorations at a trade show
Good Food and Drink
Comrades that share the same passion, and are all to willing to swap stories, or insist that you try their favorite blend
Kevin and Bob, my heart bleeds for you.
In fact the only thing worse that I think you two could be made to endure on our behalf is;
For Hugh Hefner invite you to an all expenses paid, fully inclusive, week at the Play Boy mansion, to photograph his pipes, interview him, mingle with his staff and other current residents and other such distasteful activities.
And if they did coverage of the Play Boy mansion, I bet they would not share the videos with us.
Thankfully, they don’t feature much pipes at the Bunny ranch in Las Vegas. This would be cruel and unusual punishment for poor old Bob & Kevin
And No I don’t suffer from Jealousy or Pipe Envy Complex

Hey, it’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it.
It’s funny you should mention it, but I am actually working on getting an interview with Hef.
And, believe it or not, I am under contract with one of the Bunny Ranch girls and just re-did her website. She is also the star of HBO’s Cathouse - Air Force Amy.
It’s a naughty site, so I won’t post it here, but it is easy to find. I did web development, Search Engine Optimization and consulting on it. My plight is a tough one, I have to admit, but I struggle through it with the crutch of my pipes and tobacco.

Honestly, I have to admit that by Sunday afternoon we were really tired, but we did love every minute of it.

If I were stranded on an Island off Tahiti, with 10 good pipes and unlimited Commonwealth Mix, and the island was only inhabited by those women from the South Seas who were all between 17 -35, and I was the only man for thousands of miles around.
I would be tired too.
BUT I WOULD NOT CALL IT A TOUGH JOB

While I had a blast and it was a great time, it is a lot more work than I previously had imagined.
