In this part of our 2009 C.O.R.P.S Show coverage, we focus on another new blend that was released at the show. The new blend is Wessex Gold Standard released by XYZ Direct, LTD.

We had the opportunity to talk to Alan Schwartz of XYZ Direct about the new blend. We have a video interview with him as he explains about the new blend and talks about how they blended it using the British style of blending.

We also have a few photos of the large amounts of different tobaccos that XYZ Direct brought to the show.

Wessex Gold Standard – Gold Standard is a full bodied classic British pipe tobacco mixture produced by Wessex from our exclusive formula. Only pure natural Virginia, Latakia, and Turkish tobaccos blended and aged properly. No flavourings, nothing artificial. Just rich tasting fine tobacco.

That video came out great. Thanks for the great work Bob.

I found it very interesting how Alan described the blending. They first make mini-blends and let them marry. Then they mix those blends together to create a whole new blend.

I have a tin of this that I will be smoking in the next few days and I will report back on it.

Thanks to Alan Schwartz of XYZ Direct. By the way, here’s a neat fact for you.

Alan is the former editor of the no longer published Pipe Smoke Magazine.
