Lukas, I do not add anything to the jars when I close them up. If the containers are airtight, they will not lose moisture and will be fine.
By adding extra moisture to the container, it could cause mold to grow over time from it being too moist.

As long as they are airtight, they should work fine. The problem with using plastic is that plastic absorbs odors, so it might be a problem re-using the jars for different blends.

Vacuum sealing can be done if you desire to do it. The main problem with it is that the tobacco will probably not age correctly. You need some air inside of the container to promote proper aging.
Another thing is that I find it an unnecessary step. You do not have to vacuum seal the containers. [...]

Upon opening the pouch, I was quite surprised. I was expecting a straight burley tobacco with no aroma other than a tobacco smell. It had an aroma, which to me, smelled like wine. It was not a bad thing, just unexpected. Actually, it was quite pleasant and I kind of like it. The [...]

Python wrote a new blog post: Is That A Gurgle I Hear? 2 years, 11 months ago
By Bob Tate
Most of us pipers have heard it before, gurgling sounds from your pipe while smoking. In my experiences, pipes will gurgle for a few different of reasons.
Some of the reasons are:
•Smoking too fast
•The tobacco is too moist
•The pipe hasn’t been fully broken in
•Condensation has built up when the pipe has gone out and [...] -

Peterson – Sunset Breeze
By Bob TateWhen I opened this tin I was greeted by a strong yet nice sweet aroma of Amaretto and, to me, some other smells. I also picked up some slight hints of chocolate, caramel, and vanilla. I don’t know if my nose was breaking down the aroma or my nose was [...]

Yes, I have aged it. It gets even better. I have some with almost 3 years on it and still going. It does get hard though because the longer you let it age, the longer you want to leave it to age more. It’s very difficult to open when it ages for awhile because you [...]

Pipes: They’re Not Just for the Wealthy
By Bob TateThere is always going to be a raging debate in the pipe world about the cost of a pipe. Some people swear that a more expensive pipe is better than an inexpensive pipe and others will say that price doesn’t matter on how a pipe smokes. I would [...]

Python commented on the blog post Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake - Pipe Tobacco Review 2 years, 12 months ago
As far as how many flakes does it take to fill a bowl, it depends on the pipe and the size of the flake. I would say it takes between 1 and 2 flakes on average.

I would join if they included more types of tobacco. I am of the mind that we need a tobacco organization, just like Eddie said, some type of NRA for tobacco users. Maybe a TRA, Tobacco Rights of America.
I am not too surprised that you haven’t heard from them about it though. It seems that [...] -

Samuel Gawith – Full Virginia Flake
By Bob TateI have smoked this blend in both tinned and bulk. The tobacco in the tin contains a little more moisture and that is where the differences end. I can detect no difference in flavor, aroma, or any other qualities from either the tinned or bulk. The tin aroma [...]

I think that they were produced in limited quantities just for Chicago. They were a limited edition canister and each one was numbered, so I don’t think that we can even buy them in the US.

Thanks Kevin! Yeah, my wife is pretty tolerant of my smoking. I even smoke in the house.
LOL about the tongue bite. Unfortunately, most of the time, it is a necessary evil when starting out. But perseverance through the beginning phases are well worth the reward once you get the hang of it.
