Keeping Open Tins of Tobacco Fresh     July 31st, 2009

I found this Tin of Orlik today.

You see the date August 2002, and the rusty can from the pics.

But because the contents were wrapped in cellophane, the tobacco is perfect even though it was opened years ago. It did not even need Rehydrating.

HOW TO:

As I open a new tin of baccy, I carefully lift out the entire contents in its original wrapper. I normally use two standard cutlery knives (blunt and dull) to prize out the original contents.

Then I line the inside of the tin with normal cellophane wrap from kitchen. Leaving enough to fold over as shown in movie above.

Then reinsert the baccy in its original wrapper on top the new cellophane lining.

It also has the added benefit of keeping the baccy in place, especially ½ used tins, if you carry them around in your pocket etc.

NOTE, I wont apologize for my lack of clothing, It 2:00 am and I am sitting on an open deck, and I am sweating

You’re too sexy for your shirt John! Ha ha ha!

That is definitely nice and simple, and it works! What more could you ask for. I have to start doing that myself. I have way too many open tins just hanging around.

Thanks for a great, simple and effective way to keep open tins of tobacco fresh.

Pipe smoking without a shirt is hazardous, especially when you have a chest thats amply follicle endowed.

You save on burning holes in your shirts, but burning chest hairs from falling embers is:

    a) painful

    b) omits scents that do not compliment the tobacco

Hopefully none of the Pipe Babes have this dilemma.

And whatever you do, with a chest that hairy, make sure you don’t blow dry it and put gel in it that will ignite.

We need more videos. More please.

    Great tip Mate!

That is a very inexpensive and easy way to prolong the storage of tobacco in a tin if you don’t have any jars available!

I enjoyed the video as well!
