Hi bearhntr, if you asking about cleaning a system pipe (with a reservoir), using a sheet of tissue paper, twist to a point and screw as much as you can into the shank and keep twisting, when exhausted, remove and it will be covered in gunk, repeat until clean, you can dip the tissue in a little alcohol for extra clean. You should also run a pipe cleaner through the air hole within the shank. If your Petes are P-Lip you might find that thinner pipe cleaners work better, Falcon pipe cleaners are great if you can get them in the USA (I’m UK) You might want to take a look at the International Peterson Pipe Club site, ton’s of information on Petersons and we are good bunch, not in competition with this site.

I currently have 3 Petersons of the mere 15 pipes, but have always been enamered by the Petersons.

I do have a question: Is there any further cleaning or post-smoke prep required for a Peterson?

Since I’m a novice, I’m asking the experienced pipe smokers…

I thought St. Patrick’s Day was an appropriate time to join the Peterson group. I only have one Pete right now, a Donegal 106 which was part of a set including a Zippo pipe lighter, but I love it. Of the 8 or so pipes I rotate through it is my only straight pipe.

Mark my words, in honor of this great holiday, I shall have ordered another Pete before this day is at end!

Johnd, yes the 31 works fine, it is the only straight pipe in the system range, it is not the most popular Peterson but I have 2 in my collection and am very happy with them.

Right now I own 2 Petes, neither are system pipes and I want one. I get the idea on bent shapes, but does the model #31 work as well?
