Picked up a Zenith a few years back and haven't smoked it much as it smokes hot as hades. Anyone have any info on these pipes and how to maintain them? It has a rubber bung military mount.

I found a picture of your pipe titled "Zenith Holland". Apparently made in the Netherlands but I could not find which factory produced it they appear to have specialized in ceramic pipes. Good luck with your research.

I collected porcelain/clay pipes for awhile, and honestly I think most Zenith pipes were tourist trinkets and not made with a smoker in mind.

If you want a good double walled clay, find a LePeltier. They are made for smoking, in the USA

I've bought 2 more Zeniths from the local B+M as I find them perfect for trying new tobacco at a very reasonable price.

How does this porcelain pipe compare with Brylon, the patented material from which many Medico

and Yello-Bole pipes are made. Brylon also burns way too hot, but some report getting good use

out of them, especially in rough surroundings.

Porcelain is more along the lines of clay pipes only this are double wall pipes. The space between the walls acts almost like a calabash's cooling chamber. They do get hot, not as hot as a clay, if you smoke to fast. Unlike brylon, these pipes are pretty fragile and will surely shatter if dropped. The stems are a rubber sealed military mount that has held up very well with little maintanance.
