I haven't seen a Year in Review thread here yet so I'll start on and see if it takes.
I had another big year. I just wish I had something to sell to help finance it. I added many new pipes, tampers and other stuff including a Castello walking stick to the collection from eBay and from pipe shows in St Louis, New York, Chicago, Kansas City and Las Vegas. The highlight was in January when I was generously gifted two Carmette Christmas pipes inspired by Castello Epoca pipes from the collection by ClickKlick aka Adam and his dad Pat who hand sewed leather pipe sleeves.
I assembled an album of pictures. My iPhone 5 has issues focusing so most of the picture are not very good. I plan on getting a new phone before the season starts again. I've added comments to some of the pictures. 8O

I enjoyed looking at those pictures, thanks for sharing! Can you tell me more about those Latakia plugs? I saw that they were pressed Dunhill blends? That's about all I could make out.

They are lane Ltd experiments. They are sitting on a comment sheet. I don't know when they were made but it was well before 2005. 8O

My year in pipes 2107 will be awesome! My year in pipes 2017 was good. I commissioned a couple pipes and bought a couple others. I made it to the Chicago show again this year and enjoyed getting to preview that pipe movie. I picked up a a little tobacco here and there with the highlights being scores of some aged Dunhill Flake and Boston 1776. I found the best pipe I've ever smoked this year, a Kyriazanos straight grain smooth billiard that I snagged off SPC. It's been a good year and I am very thankful. :puffy:

2017 was a great year for me in gift pipes and blends from my wife and sister. I expanded my enjoyment of aromatics without losing my enthusiasm for non-aros. I deepened my appreciation for my rather large stable of pipes, learning more about the different ones and learning how to get the most out of them. Forums is a strong resource on tobaccos, blends, the market, history, and much other pipe lore. Thank you members for your participation.

Got 2 Dunhills, a gifted Stanwell, 13 Savinelli yachts, and a free Bruce Weaver commission. I'd call it a decent year.

In 2107 I should be safely dead, gone, and good riddance.
2017 was a quiet year for pipes. An 1872 Barling magnum, a large 1906 Barling bent apple, a 1926 Barling billiard, a 1950's era Barling quaint, a couple of Brebbia Avantis, a cased Ben Wade from 1914, just now an unsmoked Scottie Piersel Bing on eBay. I gave away 3 fine pipes as gifts to friends.

I really fell in love with the Peterson 106 after I bought the 2017 St. Patrick's Day pipe, even though I don't like straight billiards... somehow I've bought two more Peterson 106 since then. One was the Dublin & London, and the other was the Rosslare Royal Irish that I spent the better part of the year after March trying to find, even though I don't like straight billiards... What the hell is wrong with me? And now I find myself searching the internet every day for another great Peterson 106, even though I don't like straight billiards. Again I ask, what the hell is wrong with me? I also purchased my first L'Anatra. It was my first L'Anatra and my first olivewood. Great pipe. Also two Savinelli 320. Also apparently I no longer dislike straight billiards... 8O

My pipe year was epic with some magnificent gifted pipes and tobacco from Eric and Snowy Owl and many others. I have been given much from this community. My pipe rotation, all new to me, includes a Curvy natural, a Bertram, a Comoy's Everyman, a GBD, a couple of nice Webers, a MasterCraft, a Mountbatten, an Astor, a Convertibole set, and a Nording, and a His Nibs, and a Buckeye. Among others.
My goal this year, other than being employed again, is to find a Bent Bertram, a BBB, a Barling, and maybe if the Stars align, a birth year Dunhill. Also, to try a Cayuga and other American pipes. And, most importantly, to give back to others in this community.

I started the year with just my cob and my meer, then bought a lot of estate pipes in which I found my birth year Brigham and 1950 Peterson among others. I got to give a few to a friend and some on this forum too.

2017 wasn't a bad year in pipes.

An interesting exercise, stitching together the full year.

Although I've had my Peterson Aran 106 for several years now, 2017 was the year I really came to appreciate it. The thick, stubby nature of the design makes it a no-nonsense pipe that smokes like a champ. I can't seem to put it down these days.

Al- Wow, what a great illustrated journey!
Jesse-
I'd say it was noisy! That's an impressive list for a quiet year.....

Must have been lost in the mail...

And a happy new year's to all, regardless of new pipes or not.

Al, the photo of you reading to your granddaughter was quite possibly one of my favorite photos of the year posted here. And that Peterson B5 was lovely.

It seems mine have all earned a spot at my table where I keep my weekly rotation, so I'm going to have to find a rack that holds a couple more pipes to force me to smoke a few others during the course of a week  Right now I have three Peterson 106 and a Nording at my table. I may have to upgrade it to a five or seven pipe stand.
