I just got this amazing pipe in the mail today. I was rendered speechless by this one. To top it all off, the pipe carver (Micah) is only 19. I wish I had a talent like his.

Wow, sweet pipe... In your forth pic, what is that grain on the bottom of the bowl called?

You can find the carver at Yeti Pipes.
I believe the grain you are referring to is bird's eye. He did a fantastic job of lining up the flame grain on the flanks and the bird's eye on the top and bottom.
Haven't smoked it yet. I am taking on a mini-vacation with me to Florida, where I will take my time and break it in nice and slow.

Thanks for this, DP. It's a great looking pipe and you'll have to let us know how it smokes.
I hope he shows up at a pipe show soon. I'd love to see his work in person.
I'm definitely bookmarking his home page.
Thanks again.

Wow! I've put up a lot of his work on my Tumblr, but I had no idea that he had so many years ahead of him. Good score, krause, and I'll bet she's a helluva smoker.
Yeti makes some beautiful pipes. He ought to be a legend one day.
