Can anyone enlighten me why is SG 1792 called 1792, or did they just pick a name out of a hat?

Like that really old, wonder if it's the same now as they used to make. Thank you
Kind regards

One site says...
"Named after the year that Samuel Gawith first began blending fine tobaccos in Kendal England..."

Since tobacco is a living plant and mutates and evolves as all living species do, as does each different strain of tobacco, and since soil and climate change as well, and probably sourcing itself changes over time, the blend can only be consistent to a degree. Just like coffees, teas, maize and potatoes, and everything else plant or animal.
