265 pounds and counting. I think 325 to 350 willl allow me to hit most of my targets for specific blends. I hope for everyone's sake, pipe tobacco continues to be plentiful and relatively cheap. If so, who knows where I'll end up. There's a number of other people here with enviable cellars. The aged inventory Harris has is incredible. Peck doesn't have a cellar, he has the largest tobacco store in Canada. With no customers aside from himself. I'm sure three are numerous others with great cellars that keep a low profile.

Neal, we both know that's just the decoy cellar you show to friends and family so they don't know how bad the madness has gotten. Where's the real stash??

The real cellar is neatly organized into bins like these and stacked in a closet in the basement.

I lost my exact count when the Pipetool app for iphone was discontinued, but by my estimates from just poundage that I have been ordering plus crops of my own tobaccos, I estimate it conservatively at about 400lbs. But, I am at the point in my game, where I order things now, not so much for my own enjoyment, but to prevent others from getting it. I'm kidding... sort of.

There are hoarders with a literal ton or more stored and I know several whose holdings are larger than anything so far listed in this thread. They don't share about it. I'm stopping at about 100+ lbs. Given that I smoke maybe two bowls a day , that's plenty. I'm crazy, but I'm not bat shit crazy.

I have to remind myself to consider how much I smoke per day versus how much I have or need to cellar.

peck came to mind first, and hoosier is obviously right there with him. At my glacial pace of consumption, I'd be at the other end of the scale, but I certainly buy more leaf and blends than I smoke. Nicely aged all around.

My cellar is actually done. It took me a while and my purchases where very methodical and targeted. The pictures above are from last week. I did a Marie Kondo and put it all out on the floor and then organized the tobacco into boxes with numbers that correlated with a ledger I made.

I sometimes miss chasing tobacco. But it is a great feeling to know that I'm set if any other blends go the way of the dodo bird.

Like Tom mentions above, it sure is rewarding to have aged tobacco available at home. That is another benefit of "cellaring" that is often overlooked.

If memory serves Peck has around 650 pounds in his bunker. There is a guy on this site named Les Trout who I believe has around 2000 different blends. I have no idea how many pounds he has, and he probably doesn't know either. He has been at this cellaring for decades I believe. Hopefully he will post on this thread.

I am a piker compared to the big boys. I have around 250 pounds give or take 20 pounds.

Still in piper basic training so my cellar is miniscule, maybe 10 pounds. Going for an even hundred eventually.

5 bowls a day (3 grams per bowl) X 20 years is a little over 80 lbs. but I want a little extra. 100 lbs. should do it.

panhandler, your math is a tad off.

5 bowls a day at 3 grams a bowl is 15 grams a day. 15 grams times 365 days is 5475 grams a year which equals 12.05 pounds per year. 20 years times 12.05 pounds is 241.18.

    Whoops!

Thanks for the correction cigrmaster. Guess I better wake up the TAD monster then. Hmmmm... Which pound to buy next?

Unfortunately my OCD will not allow me to cellar 241.18. Now I’ll have to round up to 300 lbs. Perfect.

I’ve leveled off around 150 pounds. I’ve stopped counting really, it gets too tedious. I’m pretty much done cellaring deep except for a few blends that I still need more of to hit my mark. The future for pipe smokers is not bright so buy what ya can, when ya can. I don’t know if my stash will last me the rest of my life but I’m hoping so, if not I’m sure some really good blends will still be avalable when I run out although the prices won’t be too nice on the wallet. I started hoarding tobacco pretty early on when most a Esoterica and Gawith blends were not only inexpensive but relatively easy to obtain and McClelland blends were rarely even mentioned.

I started cellaring in 2011, and I stopped about a year ago. I didn’t go crazy, maybe 100 tins total. For my 2 bowls a week I’m set for a very long time. I would do photos but not sure how to do them with the iPad. I don’t even own a PC anymore.

Wow, I am sooo jealous of some of those cellars.... if I was in the USA I am sure I would have around 300lbs but stuck here in Aus with the customs blockade (similar to Canada it seems) only a meager 25lbs......:(

The real question is not who has the biggest cellar, but who has the best cellar. It would contain blends that are favorites, age well, and aren't disproportional to their lifespan.

That said, Peck's hoard is still pretty cool
