OK everyone has a favorite singular blend or flake etc..... but which makers/houses do you feel make the finest overall selection of tobaccos...based on quality & consistency?

My limited experience has been Samuel Gawith and Esoterica (I guess it's really Germain)......

GL Pease and Cornell & Diehl are two of my favorites.

I started with MacBaren because a wide variety is locally available to me. They pretty much cover the bases for me. If all I could find was MacBaren I think I could live with it.

Wow ... tons. Pease, C&D, H&H, Mac Baren's, McCranie's, Sterling, Peretti's are a few better known favs of mine. Lots of lesser known ones too.

I guess, unlike some, I'm not a "that's my blend" kinda guy ... I like to mix things up and while I have favorites, I enjoy trying stuff new to me that might fit my tastes as well.

In no particular order: Sam Gawaith (Balkan Flake and Best Brown), Peterson (Old Dublin rules), McCranies (Red Ribbon and Murdock's Pipe) MacBaren (HH Vintage Syrian).

C&D, I mean holy hell, that gives you the house blends as well as Pease and Hermit. I could smoke happily with just them.

Germain, besides the couple of Esoterica blends that people seem to enjoy, they make Special Latakia Flake, the perfect pipe tobacco.

Honorable mention to Pipeworks and Wilke.

I love anything by McClelland. My runner up used to be Samuel Gawith, but now I'm really loving C&D lately.

Samuel Gawith is my favorite maker by far. Sterling Tobacco Co. is not far behind along with McClelland.

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am The Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."

Its actually tough for me to order the different brands. Like has been said before, each have blends that I really like and some that are just okay. I have only tried a few from each so that makes it tough to really make a decisive judgement. Maybe I'll change my answers every 6 months.

I also have to say... Mr. Pease's writing bumps him up a few points in my book. I've been reading the articles on his website for years and cant get enough.

There are so many that I enjoy, that it is hard to narrow down to just one. So, unfortunately, I can't offer up anything more than a tie between Hearth & Home and Mr. Pease.

Overall I would have to pick Germain as my favorite maker. Esoterica, Smokers Haven, Balkan Sobranie and so many other great brand are actually made & blended by Germain.
