I'm trying to decide between Rattray's Old Gowrie and Marlin Flake. The difference looks like Kentucky and Black Cavendish in each blend respectively. I'll probably just buy both but I was wondering if the forum members could provide any insight.

Buy both and Marlin Flake. That way, you'll get good tobacco, and have the fun and enjoyment of deciding what you like best. You may find you'll like more than one in a rotation.

I just tried Marlin recently. It immediately went into my top 5, and top 2 flakes along with Wessex Brigade Dark

I considered Hal O' the Wynd too, along with Marlin Flake and Old Gowrie. Those three seem to make up a trio. I ruled out Hal O' the Wynd for the time being because I have enough strong tobacco for now (Gawith Hogarth Dark Bird's Eye, The Royal Yacht and Hearth and Home's Freight Train).
