My go-to Virginia is McClellands 5100 Virginia Red Cake. There are plenty higher tone and excellent versions, but despite its famous rather strong ketchup scent, it's a fine version and suitable for smoking any time or blending with other leaf. You will likely want some on hand on an ongoing basis. It's sold in bulk so keep it in a jar.

Altadis Virginia Slices are pretty solid after 6 months in a jar. They're not terribly complicated, but a good solid Virginia nonetheless.

SP has the ever elusive John Aylesbury: Sir John's Flake Virginia 50g in stock right now!
While at it add a couple tins of Aylesbury's Luxury Flake as well!
These two blends are seldom available and worth jumping on.

You can't go wrong with any of McClelland Virginia offerings in my opinion.I include Navy Cavendish in that mix in addition to 22,27, Dark Star and Blackwoods Flake. As a group, there is a variety of types and tastes to cover the spectrum of Virginias. I also like Union Sq. from GLP.Hamborg Veermaster is one I favor s well.

""Good" is a relative term."
Exactly. It is also a subjective concept in this context. Nice to have so many great/"good" choices.
