Just wondering what shape is this considered? I was thinking a pot, or squashed pot, but does the shape of the shank make a difference?

    A stubby pot.

    Yes.

But the stem is very strange looking. Might it be upside down? Or is it just bent in an odd way.

I know that you believe you understood what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Looks more like a play on the dublin shape to me, with the bowl wider at the top than the bottom.

I don't think that there is a specific name for this. It is more of a mutt than a pure breed shape.

I have a Stanwell with an odd, short bowl which is described as a "pot-like freehand with squat bowl and concave rim", so I suppose "squat" is an acceptable term.

Pot. The photo is dark, but I don't see enough conical shape to call it a Dublin, and it's not tall enough for a billiard. So I'd call it a pot, a pocket pipe version (short).

Bluto, that is funny. It does weigh in at 2.5 ounces. Maybe I can use Cosmic's suggestion and call it "Larry's Brick Shithouse".

Isn't that the name of a craft brew out of Possum Grape, Arkansas?

Hey now, two things we don’t do on the forums, is call someone’s pipe or wife ugly, even if they are. Babies and pets are open season though.

Have you tried rotating the stem to see if it looks better?

Based on that shank, “Thick As A Brick”.

If you go there, might as well call it "Jethro" (one man's opinion).

I have, and when I do, the top and bottom of the stem and shank will not line up. I think that's the way it's meant to be.

pepsdad1[quote]I call it just plain ugly. JMHO.

Remember, ugly is in the eye of the beholder, and since I be holding this pipe for the moment, I think it looks "interesting", that, and it would make a nice blunt force weapon incase someone's ugly dog attacks me.

I might call the pipe Eleanor, but only with her personal permission.

Sorry, no disrespect meant...for me it would not "be attractive". JMHO. And right you are, Cosmic.

I guess so! Maybe it's the photo, but the stem looks distorted. You could bend it to be straight....

It is a 'nosewarmer' pot, imho. The stem's slight curve helps some to clench, might have been a modification, easily straightened, if so desired.
