Just recently got a Safferling from Pulvers, it's got a dark stain but you can see a lot of straight grain and rim has Birdseye. I am not versed in this, HELP!

You are a boss, Sir. That pipe IS magnificent. I am sure she will just POP once you get a lighter finish on her!
Between Marty and Pipestud I will never have spare change again, I swear. LOLz

I soaked a briar in rubbing alcohol per Steve at rebornpipes (I believe he uses regular rubbing alcohol but its been awhile). Anyway, it worked for me. I left it in for 2 hours or so and I was good.

Denatured alcohol. Have used it with great success on pipes I have made to correct errors.
