I saw something today that made me cringe. I went outside around lunch time to have a smoke and noticed a guy smoking a pipe. I walked over and asked what baccy he was using and we had a little conversation about pipes when he decided to relight. He brought out a standard Zippo, turned the pipe a little to the side and began playing the flame all around the rim of the bowl, with a little help from the wind. The flame was going all over the pipe and I know the rim was history as for looks. Apparently, this wasn't the first time from the looks of it.
I don't know what sort of brand it was but whatever it was it was charred for sure. I wouldn't do that to a $20 pipe much less a more expensive one.

Some people care enough to put plastic on their couch.
Other's don't give a horse's patootie. :puffy:
I'm somewhere in the middle.

I try to do my best to light out of the wind but it happens.

edit: Thats why I like sandblasted rims for outdoor pipes.
