    I didn't know that...that is impressive.

Knopfler is one of the primary reasons why I consider Dylan's Slow Train Coming album to be one of his very best musically.

Currently listening to ringing in my ears from the show we attended tonight. My wife and I saw Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets and they killed it, the band was loose and the music was excellent. I highly recommend the show if they come near you.

Been listening to some of my old 45s on the turntable. Here are two that were among my favorites back in 1959.

That's great you still have those old 45s Dino. How many do you have?

I had a bunch of them when I was a kid that I wish I still had...but they are unfortunately long gone.

Brian, I have about 150 playable 45s, some of the others (my wife's and my sister's) are "partied out" with scratches and scrapes. I tended to buy LPs, and have a couple thousand in an eclectic mix, and few thousand 78s (mostly opera and jazz).
Here's one of those 45s I bought late in my collecting, by Ultravox, that has incredible sound for a 45. (I also have the LP.)

^ Great song from a great debut album...from one of our most gifted and literate lyricists.

And an album that only got made because a secretary retrieved Browne's demos from the trash where David Geffen had tossed them.

Listening to the music of Louis Moreau Gottschalk, one of America's first great composers, born in New Orleans, in 1829.
Here's the concluding movement of his Symphony, A Night In The Tropics, called "Fiesta Criolla" in a wonderful live performance.

Been listening to my Erroll Garner LPs tonight. I found this terrific live clip of Erroll doing "Honeysuckle Rose" live in London, in 1964, with Eddie Calhoun on bass and Kelly Martin on drums. I was lucky enough to see him perform, every time he was in Chicago, in the 60s and 70s. Met and talked with him the last time he played Chicago, sometime in the mid 70s.

@ Cortez: Scott Joplin's classic masterpiece, "Solace" is one of my all time favs when I'm in a contemplative mood and especially when I'm at war with this world that's beyond my understanding..... The plaintive, and poignant harmonies that flow effortlessly together connecting the four, masterfully written thematic sections, evoke a far more genteel era, that will never return. The underlying Tango rhythm, completes the mental picture. "Heliotrope Bouquet" also comes close.

The "andante" section of Clara Schumann's Piano Trio, and all three "andante" sections of Brahms' Piano Quartets can calm the savage breast of my inner beast, too.
