Just poured myself a glass of Port...it's -27 here in upstate NY. So the Port is much needed.

    I don't know where I'm going...but sooner or later I'll get there.

Barrel aged Maple Old Fashioned. Been aging since Thanksgiving, just seemed like a good night to test the flavor.

Crown Royal Northern Rye. Don't let the name fool you. Great stuff at a nice price. For a rye, it's not very spicy, but it's a well-balanced, easy drinking whiskey.

I happen to be a big fan of Rye. A couple of note, imho; Whistlepig, Angel’s Envy, and a small local craft distillery has one called Royal Oaked Rye. Again, so many great choices out there!

That's the only way to enjoy that one, Ash! IMO its too good for a mixer. I was on a kick a couple years ago and plowed through quite a bit of it. It is quite variable batch to batch........ if you find a batch you love, better stock up, cause the next one might be a little different...........

I'm on a Single Barrel run from a couple of distillers. I keep the barrel number logged for future use.

I love Bourbon. I drink it neat, rocks, as a kinda slushy and my favorite is in an Old Fashioned. I have a shit ton of different kinds of bitters. Love the variety. Oh I just use Jim Beam for that.

    My favorite Rye is Bulliett.

A friend gifted me a bottle of Balcones Texas Single Malt Whisky Classic Edition last week. Very nice with just a touch of water, it is 53% after all. It does NOT work well with ice. It takes on an unusual fruity/ester note when cold.

My wife made stellar mint juleps in deep crushed ice, in stainless steel glasses, with Wordford Reserve and sprigs of real mint, for us to sip during the Kentucky Derby. The condensed mist on the outside the the glass made it extra delicious.

Late to report from last night, High West double rye old fashioned with blood orange bitters, orange bitters, real maple syrup. A perfect drink last night as I froze my ass off smoking some 10 to Midnight behind a maple tree in the wind. A windy, cold night antidote.
