I enjoy standing out on my deck with coffee in the morning. Any suggestions on a good tobacco for early morning puffing?

I have always enjoyed a simple burley blend in the morning with my coffee and usually have a bowl or two of Middleton's Cherry Blend.

I agree with Marc when it comes to a good burley, but I can't say anything good about the Cherry Blend... no offence that's a personal choice.

If you prefer and English blend then it's hard to beat Dunhill's Early Morning Pipe. If you like something a little sweet then you should give 4noggins bulk blend Double Fantasy.

IMO Sugar Barrel goes very well with coffee as well.

I agree with Marc too. For me that's P.A. because it's mild enough for a starter, but it's flavorful
and goes well with coffee. After that I can handle more complex blends.

I would have mentioned Early Morning Pipe for an English blend as well since it's so popular and I've heard it's a lighter English blend and better for morning, hence the name. A lot of times for a morning aromatic I'll have a bowl of Sherlock Holmes by Peterson. It's a Virginia based blend with some Burley thrown in to cool down the smoke a little. Has a light casing of dried fruit, most say apricot, which carries over just right into the smoke for an aromatic. Not too overwhelming or anything.

I too enjoy a good bowl of EMP...
But, if you're trying to get your day off with a jolt and a smile.
I would recommend a large cup of Josephus Daniels and a bowl of Haddo's Delight.

I prefer to begin the day with a "codger burley" such as Carter Hall, SWR, Sugar Barrel, PA in a cob....

I enjoy a bowl of H&H Classic Burley Kake with my morning coffee. I also enjoy the classic OTC's like PA, Granger, Carter Hall, and Sugar Barrel.

I am here with the English blend lovers (for that matter, any hour of the day), but I find them especialy better and more noticeable with the forst morning coffee (on the rare occasions I get to do so)

Dunhills' Standard Mixture Mild or their Standard Mixture are two blends that I occasionally reach for first.

Burley London Blend goes well with the coffee I drink, and Sir Walter Raleigh Aromatic is another of my choices for a first smoke.

I like to start my day off with something more subtle, warm my tastebuds up before I hit the big latakia blends or fry my sinuses with perique...as such, I tend to reach for Dunhill Early Morning Pipe, Balkan Sasieni, or lately, MacBaren Vintage Syrian.

G & H Glengarry Flake, then kick it up a notch with something a bit fuller in taste mid morning.

Since this thread has been revived, I'll chip in.
I like latakia in the morning, and lately that has come down to Syrian latakia. I usually start the day with one of 2 MacBaren blends - Solent or HH Vintage Syrian. I jsut finished smoking the last of my Solent bulk, and am about to pop a tin of the HH VS.
I recently had an ounce of Altadis Burma Road, which is a crossover English. I'm going to get some of that on my next tobacco order, and put that into the morning rotation.

I like to start the day with strong coffee and a Latakia blend, Frog Morton, Gourmet English, Legends, 3 Oaks Syrian, Westminster, etc. Coffee and Latakia, a great combination.

Strong coffee, and 1/2 Sugar Barrel and 1/2 Capt Black white. Been doing it for years and it wouldn't seem right to substitute anything else. I have a jar marked, Morning with it mixed up.

Lol, looks like the tobacco list on PipesandCigars.com website. I usually smoke an Aro in the mornings, but it is also when I like to try a new tobacco, because the palate is fresh. This week it's sterling White Taile Aromatic, which is caramel topped. Goes well with my Irish breakfast tea and corn chex with silk milk.

Lately, anything I was on an OTC in the morning thing for a while, but now its just whatever I feel like. I've been alternating Old Dublin and Maltese Falcon throughout the day for the past week or so. I guess you could say im on an English blend kick.

Most people seem to either start the day with something very light, or very strong. Depending on your nicotine requirements

I usually smoke GLP Lagonda or GLP Westminister in the evenings. However, in the mornings I really like McClelland's Blue Mountain with my Peet's Major Dickinson coffee. This tobacco is a great combination of latakia, probably some orientals and then something else that I can't put my fingers on. However, a very nice satisfying smoke in the mornings or anytime during the day or night.

I'm a bad person to ask or comment on this.

As a cigarette smoker I need my vitamin N in the morning. Lately it's been Kendal's Kentucky with dark french roast coffee...

Prince Albert has worked well for my first smoke of the day. Just started smoking Dunhill Early Morning Pipe as well.
A nice cup of tea seems to marry well with EMP. Coffee with the Price.
