Like others, I often drink what I happen to be having -- tea hot and cold, coffee (with milk in my case), wine,
bourbon, ice water, etc. In terms of what goes best with a tobacco pipe, I think hot tea sets off most tobacco
best. Cold drinks tend to dampen some of the range of flavors you get with a pipe. Coffee can smother pipe
flavors, although it is comforting and bracing in the morning. I don't get picky, as mentioned above. But if
I am choosing a beverage by design, hot black or green tea with no cream/milk or sugar, seems to be ideal
to background a pipe smoke. I don't do artificial sweeteners ever; their flavor comes across to me more like
a chemical factory than a sweetness.

Favorites: Water, coffee, whiskey/scotch/vodka drinks or on the rocks, beer and wine. In that order.

Coffee in the morning, then it's mostly water for me. Sometimes iced tea. Sometimes an IPA and, rarely, some Asbach Uralt or Jameson's 12.

I always have a coffee with my morning bowl of EMP but anything after noon is accompanied by a pint (in an ideal world).

Coffee, and Burbon have always been my drink of choice, but I'm going to try Cream Soda now. I like it on its own, and since so many like it with the pipe it must be worth a try.

There are only five things I drink when smoking a pipe, depending on the season and the time of day:

English tea with milk and sugar
    Coffee with cream and sugar
    A hoppy IPA
    Jack Daniels Honey
    Good tawny Port.

These combinations, to me at least, are perfect.

Just tried something on a whim and really liked it...a good quality ginger beer. Really set off the tobacco flavor and cleansed the palate like nothing I've tried before.

Coffee, whiskey, tea, and water probably in that order. If it were to be beer then anything that is lower on the hops scale.

    Hmmm...

    1) Coffee
    2) Japanese Green Tea (Gyukuru or Genmaicha) or a nice Darjeeling
    3) A hoppy IPA
    4) Single Malt, rocks and water in the summer, branch water in the fall, and hot water in the winter

All of the above could be any time of day depending on mood, temperature, location, recent food intake, star alignment, proximity to family, etc.

Carbonated drinks often irritate some smoker's tongues, but I often have Mountain Dew when smoking when not drinking tea, coffee, or spirits. If it's working for you, run with it!

I like black coffee with a pipe, up until about 5 pm. Then I switch to decaf because I like to sleep sometimes.

Water, coffee, beer, cognac. Those are the best. Coffee and spirits tend to numb my tastebuds, but they are a delight to drink. It's not always only about the pipe.

Nothing special, a bit of anything I guess from coffee, orange juice, a milk shake, Pepsi, iced tea during the day. A bit of port with a bowl or three, while reading in the evening.

My drinking starts at 5pm with a glass of red wine accompanied by a bowl of McClelland's #2015 VaPer followed by a few bottles of hoppy ale with which I will usually share with a bowl of a straight Virginia.

Lately I've been treating myself to a shot of Woods 100 Navy Rum just afore bed

First smoke of a day is with a pint of dark roasted, strong black coffee. Other beverages combinations vary with the time and place.

After some time he felt for his pipe. It was not broken, and that was something. Then he felt for his pouch, and there was some tobacco in it, and that was something more. Then he felt for matches and he could not find any at all, and that shattered his hopes completely.

I don't drink a thing , not even water , with my pipe

Somehow I get the feeling , I don't want to wash smokeyness down my gullet nor clense my palate of something nice I am detecting

Après pipe , I like IPA , SMS and whatever cocktail me and swmbo might have in season , mojitos , vodka tonic , vespers , hot toddy , margs , old fashioned , wines , home brew ...

Bourbon or scotch with my pipes is my preference. I like to pair them the way wine lovers pair wine and food. My favorite pairing to date is Gawith Full Virginia Flake and a pour of Laphroaig, or any Islay-style scotch of choice. I find that the dark sweet / fruity / slightly grassy Virginia pairs very well with the smoky peat of the scotch. I also find that bourbon and English blends pair well, with the sweetness of the bourbon complementing the smokiness of the English / latakia blend, kind of like a flavor reversal of the (sweet) FVF / (smoky) Islay scotch pairing.

I also enjoy smoking codger burley blends in a cob along with a beer, preferably a basic German lager like Hofbrau Haus original or Weihenstephaner. However, pretty much any beer will do. Budweiser, Miller Light, etc.

For the sake of my liver, I also pair my smokes often with coffee or tea.

If it's warm, Ginger Beer or Virgil's Root Beer (or Henry's). If it's cool or evening, Assam Tea or Home-Roasted Coffee.

I love bourbons and a great port, but I do not drink alcohol while pipe smoking.

Black coffee - It seems to accentuate the flavor of the tobacco, and the tobacco,in turn accentuates the flavor of the coffee.

Coffee in the morning, beer any other time.
Dark and amber beers seem to go well with latakia blends and the lighter beers go well with everything else.

I usually drink black extra strong coffee in the morning with either a light Latakia or Virginia blend. At night I like Guiness with my Dark Fired Kentucky or some Kentucky Bourban Barrel Ale. A local grocery store carries a "Victorian Earl Gray" loose leaf tea that I am fond of with all blends when I am in the mood for tea. I have also been enjoying cider with my pipe as the weather cools off.

Tea or especialy with natural tobaccos something sligthly sweet like fruit juice with water. Thoug nothing sparkling because from my experience, everything sparkling makes any case of tongue burn a lot worse.

I've found that coffee overwhelms the taste of tobacco in my case.

Water, on the other hand, clears the palate.

    Scotch makes everything great.

And I have yet to try bourbon and rum. What do you guys think about rum?

I typically will have coffee, black, with something like a latakia in the mornings. Likewise, I like dark beers like porters or stouts with my latakia and strong blends in the evening. I like drinking bourbon, but I tend to enjoy the taste of the bourbon on it's own, without the mingling of my tobacco. During the rest of the day, it'll likely be water or tea and bergs.

I usually don't pack my first bowl until beer-thirty...if that's any indication

I've been enjoying my pipe with a nice big mug of toasty green tea the last couple evenings as I study for final exams. The tea went great with PS Cubecut in a cob

I'm thinking of trying rum (Havana Club 7 years) with pipe tobacco. I hope I like it.

Hot black coffee anytime. If I'm in the mood for something sweet, then it's hot lapsang souchong tea with turbinado sugar.
