This comes to mind as I smoke Haunted Bookshop with water...not all that pleasurable. I just switched to soda, that bit of syrup I think has enhanced it's flavor for me. Curious what you guys drink.

Coffee, water, hot tea, iced tea, diluted Gatorade mix, Emergen-C, random snooty beers in brown bottles, in roughly that descending order.

Water most of the time as I am outside walking or in the car. I try to not smoke in the house. But coffee is nice as is tea.

Black tea with milk usually (English style). I find that alcoholic beverages block the flavour of the tobacco. So I’m either smoking or drinking but neither at the same time. Unless it’s tea.

Seltzer and bergs with citrus or cran, coffee, tea, iced tea, Mexican or hippy soda pop with real sugar. Separately, as a rule.

Most days of the week, water. When it's an adult beverage, it's homemade apple wine to go with the homegrown tobacco I normally smoke. I have heard that you can make a quick and dirty moonshine in small batches on your stovetop from the lees, bad batches, etc.

I usually have a tea or ice water with a pipe if it is just me. If I am over at my neighbours then it is a nice peaty scotch. You can't really miss- if it is enhancing your enjoyment of the smoke, then do it.

I'm mostly a beer guy. I like Víking Rökkr/Gylltur, Einstök pale ale/white ale, Gull, Steðji, Kaldi, DAB, Bitburger, Paulaner, Pilsner Urquell, Murphy's or Kilkenny depending on the mood.
If it comes to stronger drinks, then Brennivín, Birkir or Irish whiskey - Bushmills, Paddy, Connemara, Jameson Black Barrel, Redbreast and the good old Tullamore Dew.
Pipe is the best with a cold beer I think.

Coffee or tea in the morning and daytime. Beer or bourbon in the evening. I don't drink water while smoking. I drink close to a gallon of water a day as it is, I don't want to drink it when enjoying a pipe.

Coffee most of the time. Sometimes tea. The occasional diet coke once in a rare while. I need something a little on the sweet side when I'm puffing on some fine tobacco. I think it enhances the tobacco flavor.

I find it really delivers in bringing out the flavor of my smoke, plus coffee with chicory is just amazing. I find it odd that it's not more popular.

Also very good is a strong brewed semi sweet black tea.

This is really nice from time to time...

On a hot day, this stuff is king...

I like hard cider myself. In the summer I'll ferment for a week or so and drink it right off for a lighter drink on hot days.

For a change, I’m enjoying some blackberry iced tea today. I’ve been working in the yard and the heat & humidity have combined to give us an equivalent of 98 degrees Fahrenheit!
I’ll probably be back to my coffee after I’ve showered and cooled down a bit.

In my opinion, there's really not a better pairing with most pipe tobacco than good absinthe. I prefer the flavors of scotch & bourbon on their own or with a cigar, but absinthe works really well with most non-aromatic pipe tobaccos, or anything topped with anise

Coffee with the first smoke of the day then a combination of water and brewed tea. Some Matcha on some days. Beer or bourbon on rare occasions.

If at the lounge, port (they only have a beer/wine license).
If at home, bourbon (Woodford, Knob Creek, Blanton's, or whatever I have at the time) or Trader Joe's blended Scotch.

Some times water, or nothing at all. My drink choice habit was driven by smoking cigars, which I find the hard alcohol really helps to clean the palate, and is almost necessary with cigars. Much less of an issue with the pipe

I don't smoke in the morning, and can't do coffee at night, so.....

I like my weekend morning coffee and a pipe. Evening Rum! I wish I liked bourbon or scotch but I just can’t. I like to try all kinds of rum. Like tobacco or wine trying to taste all the nuances from each distillery and country of origin.

Iced sweet tea is my favorite with a pipe pipe. I love beer but usually go for heavier ones, which to me tend to overwhelm the smok flavors. Sometimes I'll drink a lighter one when I smoke. The other day It was Belhaven Wee Heavy, which is still pretty heavy but not bitter. Yesterday I had Port Orleans 3 Day Weekend, which is a light, slightly tart ale with lime and hibiscus.

Although...Sipping some Johnny Walker Black (splash of water only) with a bowl isn't too shabby ether.

@ blues4goose: I hadn't thought of absinthe, I'll have to try it soon since I'm overdue for a bottle anyway.

Tea! In the summer I drink it slightly sweetened with a splash of rose water and/or orange blossom water on the rocks. In the morning it’s usually Yerba Mate, Scottish, Irish or English breakfast. In the wintertime I drink a lot more hot teas like Lapsang, Earl Grey, Oolong and all of the breakfast teas I already mentioned. Every now and then I’ll pair a smoke with coffee but I can’t stand the aftertaste that coffee leaves, always have to brush my teeth after coffee. I enjoy the feel from caffeine in tea much more than coffee and I’m assuming that’s because of the l-theanine which paired with caffeine makes for a clean, non jittery buzz. I don’t drink alcoholic beverages anymore, I don’t like the how it makes me feel, sluggish and tired.

Usually water with a splash of lemonade or limeade. On the weekends or vacation, it’s often beer. Bourbon is always great when it’s time to drink bourbon, and recently I’ve become a big fan of pairing a Manhattan with the few burley blends I smoke regularly. One of these days I’m gonna lay out some $$ for a bottle of some sipping rum to drink neat. I bet that will go great with a smoke

    Va/VaPer in the morning.........coffee/americano

English/Aromatic at night...........bourbon, scotch, rye, irish whiskey, stout, barleywine, old ale, etc.

I try not to have alcoholic beverages with the pipe, since it increases oral cancer risk due to irritation, but goddamnit, it's just so good, and I erroneously justify it by the infrequency with which I smoke.
