I was playing around with lots of plugs and flakes this morning, get your mind out of the gutter I'm talking baccy here. So I have lots of various scraps. Scrape some up off the cutting board and wa-la, it's delicious!

I should be having some Blue Mountain or Mississippi River or something but instead I'm smoking nothing because it's to dang hot! It's 99 in the sun, 89 on the shaded patio and 82 in the shop. I'm ready for this heat wave to be done!

    Michael - Poulsb, WA

Pipes are not like cars. A Chevy cannot drive like a Mercedes, but the lowly Stanwell can smoke like the lofty Chonowitsch, even though the latter far exceeds the Stanwell in beauty, grain, and craftsmanship. It is the briar and not the brand. There is no place for elitism among pipe smokers. - Fred Hanna

As I've been whittling, smoking through, and totally enjoying an 8 year old Kendal Plug I thought it best to obtain more. A week or so ago I got another 500G for the cellar but I set a small chunk aside for smoking now. I had a bowl shortly there after. As I usually do I sliced off a few flakes, rubbed them out, and let them dry a bit. It was an OK smoke. Today I did the same except I loaded the bowl with the freshly prepped tabak and fired away. I didn't wait for it to dry any. What a world of difference. It was a bit of a PITA to keep it burning but worth it in taste. Much better flavor, going to have another.
