Just had a Thompson Cigars house pipe, a freehand with plateau at the brim stamped "West Germany", refitted with an acrylic stem in tortoise shell. Sometimes a news stem is just what a pipe needs.

You said it!! (MARBLING - stupid autocorrect is worse at spelling than I am)

What does your stem look like? Maybe a photo?

I don't like filtered pipes. If I end up with one, the first thing is to make an adapter to replace the filter. When a pipe that is filtered, as with Grabow, comes along with a replaced stem and is nice looking -- well, I'm a sucker for it! If the pipe is crappy, I'll keep the stem and toss the bowl. Yes, I was "marveling" at the "marbling" also. (I'm hitting the send button, we see if auto-stupid changes the words.)

@anthonyrosenthal--where do you think these stems come from? I have not found any for sale.
