Got this WDC Milano Ripple Briar Hesson shape 1628 in today. Hadn't seen the line before and at $10 I was in. Patent marked 1925. 22g. Funky integral inner tube/tenon I'll take a photo of after this Kendall Plug is gone...

Can't beat it for $10. Nice close ups.

I like the Lockmount inner tube. I think it was a neat idea. Never happened to get one. Nice blast (or whatever process it is) on the pipe too.

Yep, seems to work well. I think it's a sandblast... but I'm not 100 percent sure...

The Kendall Plug did really well in her, the tighter-than-usual draught smoothed out the bit of bite I occasionally get, though this particular plug is a bit on the dry side...

Still might open her up a bit if I can...
Forgot about a WDC Rustic Briar vest/opera pipe I grabbed recently, will get some shots up soon - a fine performer as well... light and very comfy!

A most excellent find,

congrats!

:puffy:
The old Ripples rarely pop up and finding one is always cause for celebration!
I have a BBB version which is hands down one of the best smoking pipes that I own,

I absolutely love the early Hesson design!

There was a relationship between WDC and BBB, but exact details are murky,

Buroak posted this old ad a while back which illustrates that there was definitely something going on...

The old BBB was found for $10 too!

We shouldn't be writing about these fine pipes because they seem to fly under the radar! :)
The blast quality on these old Ripples is absolutely magnificent.
I found an unsmoked WDC example, but paid much more than $10 for it,

yet I couldn't resist,

complete with original box and insurance paper!

These old Ripples are fairly scarce.
