The ad is for Arena Stage's upcoming production of Brecht's Mother Courage and Her Children.
What surprised me was that this picture appears on the first page of the Washington Post Magazine.
The horror! A pipe-smoking woman in an ad in the Post! How'd they let that one through? (Maybe because it's Brecht - anything goes?)

Of all the cities in the world I would have thought that D.C. would be the last to print anything that smacks of smoking. Maybe there's a change in the wind?

Wow...and in an ad containing a reference to children? How can this be? How can something like this get past the Ministry of Truth censors? Someone is obviously going to be sent in for re-education.
