I just won this on ebay, never seen another like it.

I know what I need, smoke, I can't recall the last time I tasted it....Gandalf in the mines of Moria.

"we shall have to share pipes, as good friends must at a pinch'....'I keep a treasure or two near my skin, as precious as rings to me. Here's one: my old wooden pipe. And here's another an unused one...He held up a small pipe with a wide flattened bowl, and handed it to Gimli. 'Does that settle the score between us', said Merry. 'Most noble hobbit, it leaves me deep in your debt."

That's freaking crazy looking. Promise to take some better pics of it once you get it!

I've seen several of those on eBay over the past couple of years, looks like a fun pipe.
I read an article on this type a while back, sadly CRS prevents me from relating anything of what I read!
Hopefully someone here has the history on them. Nice score!

If the metal is really aluminum I doubt it dates bake to the 1800s. At that point aluminum was worth more then gold because it was so hard to extract. I would think either silver or tin if it really that old. Seems like a cool pipe though. I def give it a good cleaning before using it if i used it. Nice score.
