I just attended a family wedding in Mexico. When I returned home I found that my dog and best friend Mick, had a been hit and killed by a driver in front of my home, in a subdivision and the driver didn't even stop. The driver may have even come on the sidewalk to hit Mick. Mick was the best ever and will always be remembered and missed. He was twelve years old and in excellent health. I hired a house sitter because I didn't want him to be in a kennel. I am second guessing myself and other things. I'm sorry buddy.

I'm sorry man. It's hard losing a pet that you are really close to.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I really feel for you. I worry about things like this any time I am not with my dogs (kids). There really is nothing anyone can say.

Dang, thats terrible. What indicates that the driver deliberately went over to the sidewalk? If that's true, then this is truly one miserable human. I believe in what-goes-around-comes-around and generally people with cruelty in their hearts are very miserable souls.

Sorry for your troubles, trail. Avoid the pitfall of trying to blame or second guess; it was a circumstance beyond your control, however unfortunate and devastating. Keep faith that through this loss and sorrow, more strength and love will be built into your life.

This is in no way your fault. Some idiot hit your dog. This is not your fault it is his. Thank God it was not a child given it sounds like a residential street. I am so sorry you lost your friend. In Ontario hitting an dog or cat and leaving the scene is a chargable offence the same as leaving the scene of any other accident. Might be worth seeing if anyone can remember a plate number or vehicle description. Just a thought.

There is a special place in hell for people who do that to animals. Not your fault, but I know the pain. Hang in there and take things day by day.

I'm very sorry for your lost.

    In the Candle's Glow"

Warm light coming from far below,
Twinkling, sparkling is the candle's glow.
All is well up on the ridge,
The place we know as Rainbow Bridge.

    Furbabies sleeping in heaven's light,
Tended by candles in the night.
Peaceful dreams be theirs to keep,
As they slumber in this night so deep.

Hearts on earth that miss them so,
Take comfort in the candle's glow.
Watching for them in skies above,
Bound eternally by a cord of love.

My condolences - that kind of loss is tough to deal with. My family lost a dog during a vacation back when I was a kid, and it was hard. Hang in there.

I am sorry for the loss of your dog. It is very sad when someone commits a hit and run which results in the passing of an animal or human. They deserve to be caught and run over themselves.

Thanks to all for the kind words, Mick was one of a kind and he so deserved better. I haven't tried to post pictures so I'm a little shy in the knowledge end and a lot shy on the want to learn right now end. I'll try to post picks later, maybe on a different page.

Sorry about your buddy, as others have said a longtime pet is very much a family member and losses are hard to bear. Do not doubt your actions, you did what you thought was best.
A few years ago I finally had to put my Springer of 16 years to sleep. I cried like a little schoolgirl all the way to and from the vet. Doesn't matter how tough you are these things will hurt.
    Sorry again for your loss.

Sorry to hear that. We just do the best we can.

I know what I need, smoke, I can't recall the last time I tasted it....Gandalf in the mines of Moria.

"we shall have to share pipes, as good friends must at a pinch'....'I keep a treasure or two near my skin, as precious as rings to me. Here's one: my old wooden pipe. And here's another an unused one...He held up a small pipe with a wide flattened bowl, and handed it to Gimli. 'Does that settle the score between us', said Merry. 'Most noble hobbit, it leaves me deep in your debt."
