Here are two I scored from Ebay recently.
    First, a nice Aldo Velani

Next is a GBD that I really like. This one was very gunked up, especially the stem. It took me 3 evenings of soaking it and working little by litte to be able to get a pipe cleaner through it. It was well worth it though because it smokes great and is a wonderful hunk of briar.

Fantastic. What is the nomenclature on the GBD (looks like a 9438)?

I'm a little jealous of that GBD! If you ever want to sell just remember you got a buyer here :p

@Al, it is indeed a 9438. It is also marked "Cambridge" and on the bottom of the shank it is marked "A".

Neat, the 9438 is a favorite of mine. I have one in "Tapestry" finish, goofing around the fire pit last night:

The "Cambridge" throws me off - that is not a GBD line or finish. I wonder if the shop it came from had it stamped. Can you do a close up of the nomenclature? I love digging into the history of these old GBD's.

Al, I like the shape as well, just feels real solid in your hand.
I only recently started getting GBDs but have 3 so far, find that I really like them. Great smokers.
I'll try and get some close ups in the next day or two.

I've never seen that stamp before. If you are really interested, email Jerry Hannah who owns the GBD webpage. He was helpful to me in identifying the history of my GBD's (two were a gift from a forum member, weezel).

His contact info is on this page:

Received a reply from Jerry Hanna, he says that the Cambridge model is fairly new. Sine there is a "10" after the shape number of 9438 he thinks it might indicate it was made in 2010.

Ah, that makes sense. I knew Jerry would have an answer. The new rondels are quite the same. Still, I bet a good smoker and most definitely a handsome shape.

Yep, great smoker. I have 3 GBDs and they all smoke great so I will certainly keep on the lookout for more.
