If you put two different flavours in then it would be a perfect blend of the two. . .well as perfect as you can get without aging. You'd also get more smoke per in each draw, roughly double -- and it would burn just as fast as a single bowl. So. . .pretty much the same way smoking two pipes at once would go -- but better.

    Sincerely,

There are more examples at The Pipephil logos website. Here's a stereo pipe that has a dial ring to select either, or both bowls.

Those with two stems are kinda cute -- though I think the two-strawed malt a lot easier to share.

By the by -- I've tried 2-bowls on something we've agreed isn't a pipe so it will go unnamed -- but now knowing they make 2-bowled true pipes I'd love to have one. . . in fact (goes to find one)

I guess I'm way to conservative to ever think of smoking those oddities, I thought I was being wild just by getting a pipe with a yellow stem. but, to each their own!

Briary Bully, That's an interesting find but a waste IMO.

Cortez, that pipe looks like a pig's snout! oink, oink!

I think the whole concept of smoking two bowls at once is silly. The careful selection and blending processes of tobaccos has taken place long before ever being loaded in a pipe. To justify this "gimmick" item as a way to create a new blending experience is hog wash. For example, here's a little experiment to help clarify: Find or make a specialized drinking straw with a "Y" shape where two of the ends can be put into two glasses at once with only one draw end. Now get two separate glasses and fill each with your two favorite beverages. You can figure out the rest. Hell, if that kinda thing thrills you, just mix the two together and save the absurdities and a wasted glass or the waste of good briar in this case.

Thats just odd to me but maybe it would be cool to own as a"conversation piece".I know that somewhere I saw an old meerscaum with two bowls, maybe it was on ebay or a pipe book.

You call me crazy as if that is a bad thing.

Ya, the resemblance was noted, in this case, with another "snout pipe"...

Haha what strange things. I think they'd be a fine addition to a collection. They may not ever be smoked but they would certainly be a conversation starter.

I believe the Mastro Grandolfo would in all likelihood not work. At least not as he intended.
It seems to me that your draw power would be greatly reduced on the other bowl. In fact if you loaded them both up you probably wouldn't even be able to get the furthest bowl lit.

It may cool your smoke a little what with drawing some fresh air in with it. But in that case why not just have on of those Carey Magic Inch pipes?

Seems like the stereo pipe would be useful for a night in the town. Load both bowls up and switch it so you only smoke one at a time, then you have two full bowls in one pipe.

I don't know how well the two-bowl pipe would work*, but I definitely spent the better part of an hour last night watching that 6-part video of a pipe being made.

*You wouldn't get any more smoke than normal, unless you were dragging twice as hard/heavy, and I think the closer bowl would burn faster/hotter than the other. If I had the means to purchase it, it would probably get mounted on the wall and never smoked.

I don't know, it's a little strange! However I have to say it might work out on the river bank, I seem to smoke more when I'm out there on the bank. No matter what I always seem not to have enough tobacco out there.

I suspect that it is nearly impossible to actually smoke both bowls at the same time. You would need to spend a fair amount of effort making the draw through both chambers equal. Air will pass through the path of least resistance.

You could pack both chambers then cap/plug one of them and smoke one chamber at a time though.

Here is a little DIY test to demonstrate:

Get a drink and two straws. Put one straw in your drink and the other straw outside the liquid. Put both in your mouth at the same time and draw.

The pipe that Cortez posted would work though (assuming you only selected one chamber at a time).
