OK, I got my free pouch of Troost "Special Cavendish" today.

It's actually pretty good. I was quite surprised, actually.

I am enjoying a bowl of it now, in a Ferndown Bark pot.

    Surprisingly tasty.

Got mine today too. It's OK but I would not buy it. I'll probably leave it on the smoking bar at the B&M for others to try.

    Look, I actually like it.

It's not a real aromatic, more natural. A real Scandinavian cavendish old timers like me remember from years past. Pretty damn good actually.

I smoked a lot of Troost Special, back when I was a new pipe smoker. In those days the Dutch brands - Sail, Troost, Amphora, Flying Dutchman - were readily available in drugstores, alongside the classic American blends. I revisited it a few years back. Not a great blend, but a pleasant one.

I like Troost Special Cavendish myself, it's a nice change of pace at times. It is $7/pouch at a B&M in Maryland.

The free pouch of Troost came with a $4 coupon off a pouch of any Captain Black. Call me silly but a half-price pouch of Captain Black White doesn't sound too bad, either...

Mine was a lot longer than that. Maybe they were short on Sail Green.

    Never a bad thing!

If at first you don't succeed, have another bowl.
