I don't often share personal events on the forum but this week, my family went through a lot. But, we stuck together and came out the other side today. If your loved ones are nearby, give them hug and tell them you love them.
A month ago, my mother-in-law entered the hospital and after a rough couple of weeks, passed last Thursday. We buried her today. Her spirit really impacted my wife and made her the woman she is today. We saw lot of her and she'll be missed. The funeral which was today and we're now back home, I'm enjoying some MM965 and reflecting a bit.
We pulled a lot of old pictures, this one made me smile. My wife and I getting ready for her Senior prom, in 1979. My '69 Charger behind us.
On top of that sadness, on Satuday, in the middle of preparations, my oldest daughter called screaming. Their 2 year old Great Dane, Steele, had just been hit by a car and they were rushing him to a veternary hospital. Sadly, he didn't make it. We took his body to their cabin, up in the WV mountains to bury him in a meadow. That was one of the toughest things I've ever had to do. That dog was like their child, it went to my son-in-laws shop with him every day. I'll really miss this big goofus.
The only upside was my youngest came home from New Orleans and she was a comfort to us. We don't see her often enough and I'm taking her to the airport later this evening.
We did squeeze in a couple of family photos, trying to lighten it up a bit.
We were all feeling pretty sorry for ourselves Saturday evening. My 97 year old father (lucky to still have him!) brought us some perspective when he said "I'm sad for passed dogs, but I mourn people". Overall, my family has been very blessed and we're grateful for that.
Give you loved ones a hug if they are close by!
