Well it finally happened. My wife was at a thrift store this morning looking around and saw some pipes for $2.00 each. She bought them all nine in total. I can't wait to see what she got. Now it get to try my hand at restoring some pipes. Not sure what they are but she said that there was 3 white pipes from Germany and two pipes with 3 metal pegs in the bottom of the bowls.

Sounds like an interesting find. Please post some pics if you get a chance. Looking forward to find out what pipes they are.

I have been doing some research and it looks like the 2 with metal pins in the bowls might be from repairs. I will not know until I get a chance to look at them tonight.

I was just looking at the Top 5 Pipes thread and saw Durham's Yello-Bole 3 Bore Carburetor. Now I really can't wait.

Now I just have to figure out which ones are worth fixing up?

Not sure why they are not showing up. I did it just like normal. I just uploaded the photos to my album and copied the url.
Edit: Got them working now.

I am going to start picking up the supplies I need for this restore project. The carnauba wax paste or block? I will be hand polishing at least the first pipe.

They appear to be 3 carburetor Yelo-Bole pipes. I believe that they are from the 40's. I am going to make my first project the small Lovat.

Congrats jfox!
The carnauba wax paste or block? I will be hand polishing at least the first pipe.
Carnauba works great on smooth pipes. I use wax (made for furniture, not cars) and if you polish solely by hand (no cloth, you can get a nice shine). However, I usually use some "micromesh" to sand them down very lightly first.
I always do a salt and alcohol treatment on the bowls and soak the stems in oxiclean for several hours (just be sure not to let any metal parts or painted logos) touch the oxiclean. After than, the stems usually need a good buffing with micromesh (and use the carnauba for a finishing shine).
Good luck!
