Not pipe related directly per se, it is meant to be a cigar humidor, but it looked nice and for $25 at a local yard sale I figured I could always remove the brass plates and display some of my pipes in it.

In the spirit of preservation, I'd leave the brass plate on, and it's a great pipe cabinet, anyway or moreso.

Very nice! I personally couldnt care any less about the preservations of the brass plates on the inside shelf. Id actually remove the shelf brackets and replace with slideouts using the shelves. Fill the cabinet with tobacco and enjoy.
But I agree. Awesome deal on a marvelous piece of furniture!

The only reason for wanting to remove the plates is they're engraved with different cigars on each and something cigar related on the front, I figure a few blasts with the hair drier should loosen the self stick adhesive used. I had walked there so I handed the guy my $25, lifted it up, looked both ways and crossed Rt 103 then turned down my road heading for home.

Well the brass plates came off w/o even a fight, there was glue residue on the door and three slide outs, giving serious consideration of cleaning the glue residue on the back of the plates, shining them up and replacing them with the engraved face glued toe here they originally were.
