I do access a lot from my droid. It would be a nice addition. I know there are one or two developers here on the forum too.
I also use this forum a lot on my droid. What would this " app " do differently for the site than what it is now simply on the internet on my phone? I just don't get it.
I think it would be awsome if I could pull up our reviews when I go to the B&M. The guys there are stogie guys not much into pipe tobacco.

Doesn't really require an app, an interface adapted to mobile devices will work just fine.
I also don't really know what an app would do that a 'web app' won't. If someone comes up with an idea worth working on I'm willing to join the development team (or be the whole team if no one else wants to ;)).
Huh, Safari works just fine for me on my iPad and the Android browser is fine on my phone. I dunno if I'd use an app.
Easier access for one. Right now I have to go through my web browser and its slow as crap. And I have to keep refreshing to see the updating posts. Plus we have friend request on the site but what all does that do for us on the site?

I think they are asking about getting Tapatalk working on the forum. It simplifies the forums for phones and some of the other forums I am on uses it. I like it, but it isn't a deal breaker for a forum that doesn't use it. Not sure what needs to be done to integrate into the forum though.
I have looked into it, but it is not feasible at this time.
Tapatalk doesn't work with this forum software.
There is also a Wordpress plugin that could possibly work for the main site, but there is a problem with that too.
I would need to upgrade to the latest Wordpress, but one of my past developers hacked the core code, unbeknownst to me at the time, and it would now be a nightmare to upgrade without the whole site breaking. What would normally be something tat takes a few minutes turns into hours with an unknown result.
So I have to leave sleeping dogs lie.

Download a fresh copy of the version you're running and run a diff. That'll give you the changes he made and then you can just reapply them on a new version or discard them (preferred) depending on if they're even necessary anymore. It's never a good idea to run outdated software on live servers.
My iPad displays the forums just fine, but it does have a very fast browser and a much bigger screen than normal smartphones.
a mobile version of the site would make my droid usage more convenient ... and I've been doing that a few times a week.
