Well, I’ve met John, and he looks exactly as he does in his avatar. Jesse’s photo, on the other hand, is actually that of a well-known male adult film actor.

I was actually sort of expecting a unicorn with a pipe spoon or tamper for a horn. Like it, though. It's got kind of a Nightmare Before Christmas vibe to it!

Directions?? We don't need no stinkin' directions!! Not as bad as having to read a manual though. Yes, the sign up is quick and easy.

You must be Toydarian. Fair enough elpfeife, I will say this. It is the easiest way to try a new blend that you otherwise wouldn't consider, or even know about. Its also a good way to share your favorite with another member and maybe broaden their horizons a bit.

Its also a lot of fun when we start posting what we've gotten and seeing the reactions from other pipers. Not too many forums are like this one, and the sense of camaraderie is one of its strong suits.

I've been putting much thought into my gifting options. Problem is most of the small tins in my cellar are blends I've yet to try so I'd likely be gifting something I've never tasted. I suppose I could BUY something else but mb wait till I see my giftees preferences?

milehighpiper, you are welcome to join in if you have a forum member with at least 150 posts vouch for you. Otherwise, there is always next year. We set a post minimum to avoid potential problems with people who aren't invested PipesMagazine. It's a lesson learned the hard way from years of deals gone bad and missing Box Pass goodies. I am in no way implying that you wouldn't be a great addition to the Secret Santa, I'm sure that you will be, next year. there are participants this year who were in the same position as you last year. Please hang around, make yourself known, do some trading when your post count grows a bit more, and we'll see you back again, same Bat Time, same Bat Channel.

MHP, never fear. The one constant you will find with pipe smoking is this forum. You will have many many years to participate in the Christmas exchange, maybe get involved in a resurrected form of the box pass in the US or Canada, or just get to know people you can meet up with IRL. The pipe lifestyle is a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time and just enjoy it.

This is my first Secret Santa. Do two pipers exchange with each other or is it a total mix up...example: does John and Bill gift each other or does John gift Bill and bill gifts Tom and Tom gifts Ed and so on?

I do love kiwi. The birds are cute, but not as good-tasting as the fruit when sliced into a fruit salad.

Our Former Leader, Pruss, stands alone in New Zealand. Let me be the first to say that if I end up paired with Pat (it IS a totally random selection process, right Pat?), I will gladly take a pound of his coffee over any tobacco blend.

You have your handmaiden to remove the feathers, Dan! On on a salad, supreme, especially when smoked and sliced thinly (in a smokehouse, not a pipe).

Every time there's a discussion on here about someone's humongous cellar full of hard-to-get tobacco, I find myself hoping they get picked as my Secret Santa. Pick me a good one, random selection engine!
