The Perfect Smoke Thread

We've all had them, those perfect bowl fulls where for some ethereal reason, everything comes together in just the right way for that perfect smoke you wish would never end. Post yours here when you have them.
The Pipe: A beat up old Upshall Billiard
The Tobacco: Esoterica Pembroke
The Time and Place: Yesterday afternoon on my back porch
Notes: Gorgeous early fall afternoon, I was working on the porch enjoying a pipe and realized I had been puffing for an hour and a half and it was perfect.

They are all like this for me, I just love the pipe and tobacco lifestyle.

It's happened twice in the last week or so. A Peterson Supreme bulldog and a Peterson Supreme 221 with a bowl of 9 year old Dunhill Flake.
I've always been crazy but it's kept me from going insane.

Well, I haven't been smoking much because I sliced my arm open pretty good at work severing a couple nerves and tendons. One handed smoking is not as easy as you would think. But I did have a glorious smoke yesterday. 6 year old Escudo in a Stanwell bulldog. I love Escudo, but I find it hard to make behave. Well the stars lined up yesterday and my bowl of Escudo's only fault was that it ended.

Chuck I am SSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOO jealous of your 9 year old Dunhill Flake. It used to be a staple in my stash and I cant recall ever having anything but a perfect or near perfect smoke every bowl full. Oh how I miss that tobacco.

For me it was mid spring, and I was driving to school one morning. I don't know what I did differently, but it was the same homemade corn cob and a 4 month old Bright Burly Virgina mix. I think it was a mixture of the cold air, beautiful day, and finally figuring out how to get the stupid pipe to stay lit.

I have been wracking my brain for one of those perfect smokes that have left an impact.
There were several when I was in the Marine Corps and stationed at Kaneohe MCAS on Oahu. I worked the evening crew in H&MS-24 Avionics Repair.
Well, as many who have worked evening shifts know, once acclimated to that shift you may feel like Midnight is like Noon.
I would ride my little Yamaha DT-250 down to Pyramid Rock (a beach on the base) and hike about a mile away from the parking area, down below the golf course on the cliff above.
In seclusion I would smoke my pipe and watch the moon rise or set over the Pacific Ocean, and just listen to the surf and star-gaze in my combat boots and camis.
The only pipe I had with me there, was my Ben Wade Calabash and in it I smoked Captain Black White in perfect contentment.
Those were the days.

Here I thought I was doing something wrong most of the time.. Been there a few times, and tried to recreate it, the same palette cleanser, same temperature, same puffing rate, every pack variation and tobacco moisture I could think of. Best smoke I ever had was the day I learned my first way to blow smoke rings, after a few bowls of something else.

Haven't had any of those moments yet...I think you have to already picked out your "go to " tobacco with a favorite, clean pipe. Can't be too hot or cold outside, as the ambiance has to be optimal, as to only add to the experience...producing an attitude of gratitude before you even light up.

Last night, I smoked a bowl of Wilshire from my local tobacco shop. My Savinelli bare did it's job well while my wife and I had a nice conversation on the back deck after the sun went down. Relit once and after cleaning out the bowl, my wife suggested we go inside. That's as far as I will go with this one........

Tonight on the porch with 2 bowls of Trout Brook in a dunnie bulldog. If I didn't have to go to bed, I'd have another 2 bowls.

I had my first bowl of Escudo Navy De Luxe today in a little no name briar (cresent moon on stem)
I put one coin in and pushed it down to the bottom and crumbled another into the center.
Lit it off and sipped it down to the bottom in about one and a half hours while reading a book.
IT VAS VONDERFUL GUT!
Tasty, fragrant, absolutely delicious. First time and HOOKED!
Sir Walter Raleigh, name of worth, how sweet for thee to know.
King James, who never smoked on earth, Is smoking down below.

That last bowl I had that I would describe as a "perfect smoke", was the first time I smoked a bowl of Revor Plug, sitting on my front porch enjoying a nice, cool fall afternoon.

Great thread to resurrect!
I can't say it was one of those perfect bowls but my 1st taste of Escudo was certainly similar to yours drsam.
Snus, snuff and briar.
Not much more required in a day.

Today while walking the dog and smoking my cob. It started out as a bowl full of Altadis Creme Brulee and ended with me blowing a few smoke rings and there was nothing left but ash at the end.

Driving to San Antonio, a bowl of CAO Eileen's Dream in my go-to KayWoodie Bulldog. I stopped at Dairy Cone in Columbus for my obligatory jalapeno burger. I was leaning on the hood. waiting for my food and I remember thinking that something smelled great. Then I realized that it was my car from the pipe smoke! The smoke was as pleasant in me as on me!

For me it was in all but one of the places you'd ever expect, it was after a mission in Somalia, it was an intense night and when we got back to the rear everyone was exhausted, all you could smell is the cordite in the air from my guys, everyone pretty much went their own way, trying to sort out the night. I had no where to go so I jumped on the hood of my Hummer and stripped of my blouse off and to my surpirse my pipe was still in there with a full bowl. I lit the pipe and enjoyed the quiet and peace it gave me, I forgot where I was at for the moment and reality was only my pipe and me. I will never forget that night, for me something actually made sense where nothing did.

I'm having the best smoke I've had in awhile, thought I'd share. I had a nice piece of chocolate after a vigorous workout and now I'm puffing on some 3 Oaks Syrian in my special place by my garden out of my Longchamp bulldog that was rusticated by Jason Gone, a member of this forum. I've got a side of hot black coffee and some cool breeze and warm sunshine. A gret way to start my day!
