I bid on this Dunhill on eBay, and apparently everyone else was asleep at the wheel, so I secured it for the low, low price of $37.00. The nomenclature is DUNHILL SHELL, England 12, Canadian, a blurred patent ending in 45/21, and Pending. The dating guide puts the manufacture date at approximately 1932.

It was very clean, inside and out, but the stem is really thin at the button end. I have been smoking EMP and Princes Street in it, and it smokes very well. I plan on displaying it with my Broken Castello when it comes back from Walker Briar Repair.

I just got back a Castello that Mike Myers repaired, that is in another post. I plan on having a new stem made for this baby also. I bought it to smoke it, so far, EMP and Princes Street. It seems to like Princes Street best, lol.

A pre-war Dunhill for the price of a drugstore brand pipe!
Great score, rigmedic; it looks like it was well cared for. Happy smoking!

Thanks! I love a great deal, and am a cheapskate besides, lol. Plus I subscribe to Mark Twain's philosophy of having someone else do the hard work of breaking in a pipe.

That may be the best score I have ever heard about on Ebay. A patent Era Dunhill for that kind of coin is insane. Congrats on your new Dunhill and smoke it in good health.

Congratulations on your new pipe. That is an excellent find. Perhaps the seller did not know the true value of the item offered for sale. I would check out future auctions from the same seller. You might get some additional deals.

Well done!!! I got a 1935 Dunhill a few months back for $153 and thought that was as good as you could do. Now there is you. :D

I bet the seller had no clue what it was and was probably surprised someone would pay close to $40 for a used pipe....

Hell of a score! (I'm a fan of Princes Street myself)

I wasn't sleeping, but I did miss the finish bell. I had planned on bidding on this one as the bidding was slow. It all worked out for the good though. One of us would have paid an lot more for this beauty. Congrats.
