"I don't play a lot of fancy guitar. I don't want to play it. The kind of guitar I want to play is mean, mean licks."

In the sticks in Mississippi
Livin in blues land here, listening to Mississippi bluesmen on Fat Possum records, have a blues festival every summer, and just a short drive to Greenwood and Clarksdale MS. We had a concert by local bluesman Little Willie Farmer on out neighbors porch last summer. Love it!

When I was very young my Father had a pool hall, and slot machines in Honky Tonks, and Grocery stores in Vermilion parish. I rode with him sometimes to collect from the slots. One night we went to a place not so far away from our home in the country , I sat in the car , it was dark, Father to me don't get out the car. When he left you just know kids obey right. I crept up to the place where the ventilating fan screened was and I could see inside, Man what music, dark Louisiana blues, people squirming like red ants was on them, I had never seen or heard that. They have a saying in Cajun land that very young you see something very good or bad it MARKS you, well the Blues marked me. Later as I was older and had a bike I crept out the house and the owner let me come in and hide in a corner behind the bar and listen. I was MARKED, Blues and Cajun Music. The blues place was a Black place, no white people but they respected my Father as he as very good to any man who needed help. It brings back a lot of very good memories.

I have been a guitarist my whole life, (over 35 years). I don't play professionally. I am a Gibson and Marshall enthusiast. I love all blues. I have a complete setup in my basement, drums, guitars, classic tube amp stacks, bass rig, PA system, vocal rig, smoke machine, lights.... a whole stage lol. I LOVE THE BLUES!
Check out Joe Bonamassa.

Nothing implied, I just think it is interesting that blues music is now predominantly enjoyed and performed by white people.
I wonder if we will see a similar situation with rap music in the next several decades.

I've been privileged to have been in the audience for performances by John Lee Hooker, BB King, James Cotton, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Roy Buchanan among many others. I used to listen to the old Chess records and old blues artists on FM radio back in the late 60's.

I play a fair blues harp and mess with the guitar.

The most memorable performer of those I listed is Roy. His live performance was unbelievable for its virtuosity and emotion.

Great story Bradley. I bet you had a blast in those old honky tonks.
