Well my Razer Orochi laptop mouse pooped the bed so I had to get the Death Adder from the desktop. The good news is that it's only a year old, so Best Buy will replace it. Kind of surprised it died this quickly -- my Death Adder is almost 8 years old and never had a problem.

Here's a drink recipe from little old me. "Blackberry Cosmo". 2oz Vodka, 1oz blackberry liqueur (I made my own, but you can buy a blackberry schnapps called Black Haus...no kidding that will do the trick). Splash of lime and 4oz cranberry juice. Yum!

I got a PM from Yavuz today. He confirmed that a Storient pipe usually comes with a Lucite stem but a customer can order hand cut Vulcanite if they wish; he also has a couple colors in stock ATM including the "standard" black and red striated cumberland.

I keep some of each bulk bag aside when I jar it. Then I finish smoking what I set aside and I want to unscrew a jar of it. So far I've been keeping the jars sealed and just ordering more tobacco

Yeah I'm stocking it up, have 6 mason jars full, and my wife bought me a bunch of little 3oz jars I fill with my rotation. The rest is sealed up and stored. I'm in PA and we have no tax smash yet so I want to put away about 5 pounds a month of the VA's. The aro's I have in jars but not that worried about storing long term, from what I've read they start losing it after a year anyways.
The shit end of it is I can't buy pipes... So I'm going to make my own! lols

The toppings in most aromatics do wane, flavor-wise, after a year or more, but they're still smokable. I have a really old can of Captain Black Royal (so old it has the key top!) that I found not long ago and I smoked a bowl. It was still acceptable LOL. True it had waned a some flavor-wise but it wasn't as goopy

Well I heard that if the aro's have a good bit of VA in them, they will hold up. Don't know how true, and if it is how much and how long. Ahhh the never ending journey...

My beloved SG Grousemoor which is an Aromatic Lakeland-style all VA blend does lose some of its' floral pungency with drying. I bought a bulk pound from SP last week and it looks and tastes "aged". I might have bought them out, because I see they took it off their baccy listing altogether. Weird.

You may indeed have bought them out. I know you and some others love Grousemoor but TBH I'm pretty sure it's not flying off their shelves. I also have a bit of a problem with SPC in particular, but also P&C lately in them running out of so many blends -- tins and bulk both. Ugh. That can't be all Harris' fault -- he only smokes virginia flakes LOL. Hmm -- but he did order a pouch of Carter Hall this week -- maybe that will be out of stock soon too LOL.

Ever since I joined, I've heard puffers here say that as soon as the buzz here gets high on a particular blend then *POOF* all the usuall on line sellers are out of stock for months. I used to laugh at that, but now it's gotten me to believing it...

Yeah Harris gave me a place that had SG BB, everyone has been out, and have no ideal when it will be back. Tins are ok, but now I'm jaring for aging VA's. I know there is only 4 250 gram bags left. But my monthly chip is spent, see what happens at the biginning of the month. I see the big stash photos and they have A LOT of tins. They either got great deals, have a ton of money or have a B&M they stop by and pick up a few a couple times a month. It's 30 miles to the closest store for me, and they have mostly cigars. If they had good tins I would buy them.

At least SP has real-time inventory and when they're out it will show you that they're out. I'll have to keep an eye open for another sale and buy it in tins.

You might be on to something about the "BUZZ". This forum gets amazing exposure and there might be lots of lurkers. I was surprised one of my posts I did when I first joined, a review of Peterson Irish Flake, shows up on the first page of a Google search ....

Cigars International is in PA and I buy tins from them on occasion. I can usually get free shipping there, their prices are competitive and their service is second to none. I've been a customer for years. They also have bulk blends -- I think I recall a pretty lengthy list of Peter Stokkebye bulks and Lane Ltd. in 5 pound bags.

No surprise since many of us are convinced that the sky is falling soon on "cheap pipe tobacco prices." I don't think it helps when we're looking for a boutique blend either since, from what I hear, buying 25 tins at once of some of those can be 2-3 orders an on line vendor gets in 3-6 months.

Thanks, got them all bookmarked. I had planned on buying the Pimo book, seems to be everyones choice. So you think the kits are the way to go? I'm sure in the begining it's probably the best idea. I've been looking at some things to make them awesome. This one site has mammoth tusks and there's some cool rings. The one that really peaked my interest was a Mason ring. Also looked at some crazy woods. Sometimes it sucks when your mind never stops and you sleep 4 hours a day...yeah OCD.

So you think the kits are the way to go?

Most start with a kit. I suppose it depends on one's skills and abilities. I believe the kits also come with a molded plastic (probably Lucite) stem too, but some vendors may offer rubber (I prefer vulcanite myself). I read where hand-cutting the stem is a challenge, but some of those places sell rods as well.

not quite THAT warm, and I don't wish for it yet either. Last time it was in the 40's here it was absolutely nasty. Imagine 2 feet of snow being rained on and turning into muddy slush, alongside the crap that people throw in the snow, old ice melt, peat gravel etc. Definitely no Crocs

Well except for me getting Kevin pissed at me, it's been pretty quiet around here lately.

Sounds like you had a great time in Saint Louis, Baron -- good for you -- sounds like a lot of fun!

HA! I wouldn't worry too much (I doubt you do), nothing wrong with pushing the envelope when the opportunity arises, Roth

Didn't post this in the early AM, but if you are up late (or very early), and have Netflix, look for the film "London Blackout Murders", a 1943 B&W film that should appeal to the pipe smoker. I watched it last night and found it quite enjoyable.

Great! Wonder where Baron's been at? Maybe Russ Ouelette has hired him for the "2013 Black House Countrywide Tour" ...?

Greetings, night owls. Sitting here smoking while listening to water drip from my ice dammed walls and windows and changing buckets as they fill. Our city set a new record for snowfall this winter and its coming down gently as I write this. Kind of a soothing sound for pipe smoking which I'm doing in between bucket duty but I wish it wasn't doing so much damage to my house.

Be careful what you wish for, as you just might get it.

I just wrote another book and I'm promoting it.

Hopefully I'm not breaking any rules asking this (if I am, PM me) what's the book and what is it about?

    BTW, welcome back!

Morton, all our snow was gone here and I was actually researching to find a new landscaper to wrestle with the mess Mother Nature left us over the winter. Then BANG -- she dumped six inches plus on us a few days ago. UGH
