Baron that Hilson is a great looking pipe. I love the shape. Glad you're enjoying it!
I pulled the trigger on a Charatan After Hours Executive tonight. I'll post a link in a bit.
Nobody has been here for three days? This place looks like a mess!

This is daytime for me !
ah hour and a half left at work...17 total hours today(holiday season over time is awesome) then off to bed
Just got off work to a PAD surprise. A 1940s Kaywoodie Connoisseur Bulldog and a dirty but intact but totally smokable Peterson Meerschaum. The Meer will be off to Walker tomorrow for prettying up! Paid $15 for the Kaywoodie and $35 for the Pete!
Great snag on both of those, Baron!
Whew! Al helped me post some pix of the Charatan Executive After Hours pipe that's coming home by the end of this week, if anyone's curious.
Cool. Let's see 'em!
They're near the bottom of the Charatan Executive After Hours thread, Baron
Oh OK. Here is the link to the thread! I thought it looked familiar!
You have a sick sick sense of humor...I laughed my arse off too though
Maybe it's because I'm a funeral director. I would have tried to stuff the guy back in! I'v enever put a casket in an elevator, but I've had to get plenty of bodies into elevators and down narrow flights of stairs and you have to stand the cot up and push it like a hand truck. You better have that body strapped in good and the cot cover too or he might just pop out and say hello. I'd never take a body in an elevator with people in it though.
I'm assuming you mean people other than a funerary staff or mil escort
After midnight , taking a break from the hospital floor to enjoy some smoking Peter Heinrichs special curly in my Preben Holm freehand .
gotta ask Baron, you ever deal with a marine? Do they have a guy in the room with him during all the embalming and all? I mean I know they post up an honor guard in the funeral home over night. But like during the whole process? or do they stay upstairs with some coffee while the techs do their job?

Some swear that Special Selection: Curly is as close to the original Three Nuns as it gets -- even the coins look the same, with each coin incorporating the whole blend.
I never tried it, but it does sound quite interesting ...
I've never seen anyone post guard except during the funeral and the graveside. No one is allowed in the prep room who isn't a licensed embalmer, at least I Texas. When I was in the Army, I had to stay with the body, though. But I was in charge of the collection and transport as well as assistance with autopsy and Embalming. Funeral service works a bit different in the military.

Just relaxing with my pipe
How is everyone tonight? Anything special/memorable going on lately?
Same here bro.
Finished up a tin of McClelland Wilderness a couple of days ago. Smoked a cigar to make room in my humidor because I overloaded it the last time I went cigar shopping. Gonna smoke stogies for a few more days while I try and decide what tin Im going to crack next. Also, my order from Smokingpipes.com is supposed to be here later today. Good shit.
I almost got a tin of McClelland Christmas Cheer the other night, but was a couple bucks short. So, I went with Moontrance, and H&H Egg Nog. Can't wait til it gets here. My buddy is supposed to be bringing up some Cubans in a couple days. Sometimes I'll sit in front of my stash for about five minutes trying to decide what I want to smoke.

With the amount that I have stashed right now, decided my next tin can take up to a week. It took me 4 days to land on Wilderness and I almost traded it off, but Im glad I didnt. Moontrance is amazing stuff, one of my go to aros, too bad the stuff is kind of expensive. You want a stupid tasty smoke, mix it half and half with some Larrys Blend or some SPC Plum Pudding. Tastes like a Smores.
I love smores. Especially Smores Pop-Tarts lol. I might add Plum Pudding to my next TAD list.
I went thought 4 ounces of Plum Puddin a few months ago like it was going out of style. That stuff is beyond delicious, every single puff you notice something different, really rich and bold flavor. My only criticism is that it is kind of a pain in the ass to get lit but once youve got it up and rolling it burns really nice. Definitely a must if youre an English kind of guy.
Just a few people burning the midnight oil, eh?
Definitely joining this club. Lately i've really been enjoying reading a bit of this board before bed or even while attempting and failing asleep around midnight PST.
Just got back from a double feature of classics. Dr. Strangelove and 2001 a space odyssey. A long night of films indeed! I want to crack open my tin of Frog Morton on the Bayou but I don't think the lady is going to be down with that at this hour.
Only one way to find out.
@hans, mayhaps you can do as I: close the bedroom door after she retires, pour a snifter of Spanish brandy, and light up. However, I prefer FMOTT over FMOTB. Whatever it takes to enjoy the Frog....
@pipe novelist, I agree Plum Pudding is a great smoke, as is it's cousin, Mississippi River. I find these unique blends, along with the Frog series, to be especially satisfying, which is in and of itself strange since I've been smoking mostly English blends for over 30 years. I would have expected to have been more attracted to somewhat more robust English/Balkans. Maybe it's the milder changeup... regardless, I LIKE 'EM!
Well Midnight peeps, in 10 hours I go to get my Black House tin art tat. I'm excited. Russ has seen my preliminary designs and thinks they're great! For sure there will be more pipe related ink in the future. I already have some ideas. If I get time tomorrow, there will ne a YouTube vid.
Right now I'm just waiting for the work day to be over and having some PS Luxury Bullseye Flake in my Storient PM 2012.
awesome can't wait to see the tat...
I'm sure you've thought this through, but I'm still hoping that you didn't sell your two legged, movable billboard short.
After we chatted before I did give it a lot of thought. I know Russ and I have a wager going, but if BH really wasn't my favorite blend and if I really wasn't comfortable with what is going to be the final product, I'd never commit it to skin. In fact, if I go and the artist doesn't have something together that I really want, I won't do it. The final design isn't going to be simply a stencil of the tin art, but a rendition that I designed with my artistic tastes in mind, so right now I'm good to go. I posted a link to a gallery of Joby (the tattooist) in the Blackbloods thread and I picked him because I trust his artistic ability.
Can't wait to see your new black house ink. I also can't wait for my first tin to arrive in the mail this week!
Pipesandcigars.com 'Best of the Rest' in my Baronet 510ex
I can't smoke my pipe because there is a dust storm outside with 50 mph winds. At least I have some snuff in my nose! Pöschl SG Cola!
Baron, any update on the tat?
Wow -- kewl Did you have to bite or a stick or leather during the inking? I'm thinking that sitting still for a large tattoo like that, in a sensitive area may have been a challenge of sorts.
After about four hours in the chair I felt like he was tattooing my teeth.
I can just imagine ... Four Hours -- now that's dedication!
I think you're just swell, Q, but I don't know how to comment on body ink.
Please know that I'm certainly old enough to be your dad and, quite possibly, your grandfather so keep that in mind. (I'm sure it's a generational thing.)
On that note, this tattoo is something out of Bram Stoker, Baron. It's dark, it's edgy and I'm sure it's everything you wanted it to be.
The yellow tints give depth and perspective and the circular layout pays tribute to the rounded tobacco tin. However, I don't quite understand the orange/blood red sky.
You've honored Russ with this tattoo. I can only hope that he has honored your commitment.
Dang it, just checked the tracking on my latest P&C TAD order...It'll be delivered tomorrow. It's sitting in the Gorram post office I drive past on my way home tonight. Why oh why couldn't I be a ninja? I'd have my black house tonight for my before bed bowl
Hehe, I'm enjoying some Dunhill Nightcap with some good music.
WOW! Awesome tatoo, and hey, awesome thread! Yeah, I finally crawled out from under the schoolbooks again, I'm usually in them at this time of night.
Lighting up a bowl of Christmas Cookie in my Uhle's Golden Grain Rhodesian. Just waiting for the flash of light and giant BOOM!
Well, if there is another life, I'll see you all there soon!
Really though, I feel like lighting up some Sir Walter Raleigh. I've had this pouch for months, and I feel like smoking some.
I'm almost reimbursed for the money I put into Miskatonic. Once I cross that threshold, I will be building the war chest for a new blend. This one is tentatively called Old Dagon Dark and will feature stoved VA, Perique, Black Cavendish, Latakia and Dark Fired Kentucky. The VA and Cav will be the main components, with the Perique, Lat and Dark Fired as condiments.
I am of the same generation as fnord (2-3 years older than your father) and can only admire your dedication and commitment to both Russ' creation and your art. It appears to be great ink, and speaks volumes of you and your beliefs. Russ should definitely feel honored!
On a side note, you mentioned your Masonic standings. Is your father also a friend of Hiram?
Rock on, Brother.
Hey! Cool, I'm still alive! Time to celebrate with a nice before-bed-bowl. Dr. Grabow Omega, Dunhill Nightcap
Watching the sky, looks prett good to me, just lit up a bowl of a local Irish cream aro in a good smoking nameless church warden
Just got back from midnight Mass.
All Latin, and preceded by Part I of Handel's Messiah.
Now it's time for some champagne, some fruitcake, and, I think, some FM OTT.
Getting ready to load a bowl of Egg Nog, in my new Nording.
Working an hour past my usual shift...stupid system approved everybody off for christmas in a twenty four hour call center without realizing that I would be the only one on the phone till three thirty then noone till four thirty...so stuck I am, at least it's triple time:) holiday time and a half plus OT time and a half
That's pretty awesome Josh.
You might be able to retire after tonight!
don't know about retirement but the extra funds may buy me a few lbs of baccy or a nice new pipe or maybe both
LOL! My son couldn't get enough of DBZ when he was little! That vid was strange to say the least CarrotCake!
There's a couple of sequels to that one. I'll have to post them. i watched all the Dragonball and DBZ episodes back in the day. Those parodies almost made me pee my pants.
